I suffer from skin cancer, and yesterday I had a biopsy taken from a growth on my forehead, it's the size of a 50p piece, I fully expect that this will have to be removed, but my question is

I do not want to have a skin graft, I am 72yrs old and no oil painting the fact that I will have a scar after the operation is not a problem, can anybody give me their advice or thoughts.

Hi Scorpius,

I'm sorry to hear about your skin cancer and biopsy. There may well be people on our RA forum who have had biopsies like this however i wonder if you might also find it helpful to post the question on a couple of other Health Unlocked forums:

British Skin Foundation - healthunlocked.com/britishs...

Skin Cancer UK - healthunlocked.com/skcin - but has a much smaller membership

Do consider going to your GP or consultant if you have concerns about any procedure you are due to have as there may be an alternative they can discuss with you.

Kind regards

Hi there I have a friend in her eighties who had a graft on her nose:face. It does make it a lot tidier.

I have also got a problem with a nasty patch on my nose. I have already had two different treatments but the thing is back again. I am off to see my GP but I know I will be referred this time. I think we can all do without these additional problems when we have RA to deal with. I hope you get some good advice from the consultant. Take care X Mary

Hi, I am 74 and have this on my left leg,it is with sitting in the sun. My treatment was 1: cream that you put on over the skin for 2 weeks, 2nd was burning it off with a freezing cold spray, this scabbed up and then the scab left with just a trace of pinky colour. 2nd one had to be done twice.

Hope all goes okay with you Lots of healing coming to you. Jude.

Thanks for the post, but I have had the treatment that you comment on and it was very successful in clearing up most of the affected areas, but the main problem is that I have this growth which they suspect to be cancerous, which is why the took a biopsy

prior to surgically removing it. My question is their any alternative to a skin graft after removal.
