Hi all, I've had what I can only describe as bruises under my 2 big toenails, I eventually seen my doctor who told me to send clippings away to check for a fungal injection, phoned to see if the results were back today & it's come back clear! So I'm at a loss as to what this could be the receptionist said no further action was to be taken. I see my specialist nurse on weds but I thought I would see if anyone else has had anything similar. I hadn't dropped anything on my toes either. Gentle hugs michelle xxxx

Hi Michelle, I recently had a similar thing, my toenail on the toe next to the big toe went purple like a bruise, after about two weeks the nail fell off and I have a new nail underneath. I mentioned this to the Doctor when I saw him for something else, he had a look at the toe but couldn't say what the cause was as no sign of any fungal infection or injury and like you I had not dropped anything on it or knocked it. He wasn't at all concerned. Weird thing to happen though. Take care,

It could be just that, bruises. If so, you should report it to your rheumatology nurse/ consultant, because bruising can be a reaction to some of our meds, and should be checked our. M x

Hi, I've had this and lost my toe nail. I mentioned it to my podiatrist who observed that i curl my toe when i walk, probably trying to take pressure off my joint when walking (not conscientiously ). Could this be the cause? J xXx
