Hiya all. Due to still not really understanding ra even though I have had it about 5 years now, I was wondering if ra can affect the calve mussels. Also does anyone have a really bad stomach the morning after taking mtx and keep needing to go to the toilet. X

Not sure about pain in calve muscles perhaps if your walking differently you may have caused an sprain or injure to the muscle i know i have this when my pelvis/ hips are really sore i walk differently and then get a sore back. With taking mxt every day after taking it i get the stomach pain and the runs it can be a side effect, its usally for only one day.

RA can affect any part of your body, but as Keryn said, i would think this is down to how you have been trying to walk, as i get this a lot in my legs, they hurt most of the time as the muscles work over time,

I'm not sure any if us know the full details not to mention the dark dank corners of RD Jaqi! I get awful cramp in my calf muscles & it can make them achey for a while after. Like when we have the fluey feeling, when any part of us is painful I think it also affects our muscles, or has the capacity to anyway.

Worth mentioning to your Rheumy I think, he may have some helpful ideas to ease it.

I don't have stomach ache or toilet troubles any more since changing to injections & taking folic acid 6 times a week. That said I'm on a few strong pain killers which can solve that problem so possibly another reason I don't have these issues by more! Again, maybe your Rheumy could help?

I get pain in my calves radiating down from the back of my knees, when my knees are bad.

When I'm forced to walk on my heels because of the pain in the balls of my feet, my calves hurt.
