Yes - and higher than that when first diagnosed. For me it tends to indicate that my meds are struggling to control the disease, and they need to be reviewed. However, you don't say whether you feel as if you are flaring or feel ill in other ways as it could also be that you have an infection somewhere. CRP is not just specific to RA, but a general measure of inflammation in your body.

I always feel quite stiff throughout the day usually after the third dose of painkillers i feel ok.Crp is down to 16 now but that,s because i had a steroid injection to enable me to get around, because i was going to cornwall for a week. Also i cannot bend my little finger

When you say CRP reading of 28, what is the unit of measurement?

Are you being treated for one of the inflammatory diseases gradyjackjacob? By that I mean prescribed one or more DMARD or anti-TNF/biologics? You mention painkillers & steroid injection but really we need a little more information to have an idea if this result is to be expected, if you're not controlled by your meds etc. If you could let us know a little more that would help us to help you. Thanks.

I,m on abatacept injection which i inject once a week also azathioprine two 50mg a day .I also take 7.5mg of steroid tablets.I,ve a doctor,s appointment on thursday because i cannot bend my little finger,it,s been like that for the last ten days.

It sounds as though you're ready for that appointment, your Rheumy is the one to help of course but it does sound as though you could be a little better controlled. Possibly your meds need tweaking or another adding, your pain relief doesn't sound as though it's doing it for you if you only feel the benefit after your third dose so I would question your Rheumy if it's enough for you. Not sure about your little finger, is it inflammed or just permanently stuck?

It,s not inflamed it just won,t bend.I rang the rheumatology helpline and the nurse rang me back and said my rheumatologist said to make an appointment to see my gp and ask them to refer me to a orthopadic surgeon

Ah, I thought you meant you had an appointment with your Rheumy. Well, if that's what your Rheumy thinks without examining it then all you can do as he/she says & see your GP for referral. If it was me though I'd prefer my Rheumy to examine it to determine just what is causing it rather that referring to Ortho.

I would prefer that to but i,d better do as he says and see my gp first.
