Oo I can empathise with that Deejojo. Fortunately mine is somewhat better with some good pain relief. Do you have a Rheumy appointment any time soon?

Hi Hun I don't have rheumatoid arthritis I have ostearthritis thank u for the response x

Yes, mine is OA not rheumatoid. My Rheumy treats both & asked my GP to perform a pain med review & since then it's been certainly more bearable. Maybe your pain meds need a little tweaking? I know now painful it can be. Also find or ask for a good exercise regime that doesn't over stress your hips.

Hi Hun who do I get to refer me to see a rheumatologist ??? Would I be my gp??? And would they refer me even though I have oa xx

Many GP's treat OA as it's generally pain relief & NSAIDs prescribed as you know. If your GP considers he can't control your OA well enough (it does sound as though helps not doing so) he should really refer you to a Rheumy.

Hi there I am having my Injection for pain in my Arthritic Hip next Friday. Cant say

Im looking to it but have decided its the best option. Was advised I could make 1 0f 3

decisions. Either I have an Injection and put myself on the operating list. I could put

myself straight on the list without an injection hoping the pain doesnt get too bad too

quickly while im waiting. Or.... I could go for No 3, which is to have the injection

as soon as possible and hope it works for at least 6Months, but in the meantime stay

with my regular clinic and have the option to ring them anytime if Im worried about my progress. I just feel better for having advice and help on hand. The injection itself

i believe is not very comfortable but id rather a few minutes of pain than another 6

months or so of hip pain and difficulty walking. Hope you get on ok.Let us know how you get on Good Luck Shanni

Well probably will have to some day But thought Id try the injection first and see how it helps the pain I was told that my hips might not get any worse so I could just keep going with a 6month injection. Are you waiting for an appt have you been referred to the Hospital by your Doctor. Maybe if you see your Doctor before you go he could give you a steroid injection to tide you

over and see you again when you get home. Do hope you have a nice holiday

Try and get lots of rest x

Hi Deejojo

Are you home from holiday yet. Did you ask for a Steroid Injection before u went away

if so did it help? I had my Steroid Injection into my hip socket last Thursday. Cant say I enjoyed it, but Cant believe how much better I feel already. It hasnt taken away all the pain or stiffness but when I got out of bed no trouble and went to the bathroom with NO STIFFNESS AND NO PAIN. i was amazed. I still cant stand for long without some pain but its not so bad. He said if it works he can do it again in 6months, all depending on how much pain im in then and how long it lasted. We discussed a future Hip Operation, whichif it gets much worse after the injections I can have under the NHS at

that Private Hospital . So with the injection successful and my future being taken care of

I am more peace of mind. Dont be afraid to ask your Consultant any questions

anything at all thats worrying you They really do want to help youx
