Some great news today for RD people

I have been missing for a while, but I want to wish everyone A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS, as pain free as possible :-)

Great news today about possible new treatment for RD. IT's a real eye opener and I'm find it difficult to imagine how a little magnet inserted into the spleen can help in the treatment of this chronic disease.

The only down side is that it is not likely to be used generally for patients for another 10 years. Straight away I calculated that I will be 77 and might not even be around by then. But, hey ho, at least like many of us, I am benefitting from the drugs available now unlike those who have gone before us. It will be great, if successful, for all those younger than myself, in the future.

I am still doing very well on Enbrel injections alone (18 months now), however I've had to muck about with my weekly injections of late because I have a gallbladder which flared up with inflammation and infection a few weeks ago. I was being given morphine whilst having a ride in an ambulance in the early hours of the morning, in absolute agony. The operation has been cancelled twice and is now planned for the end of January, and I have to leave my injections off again 2 weeks beforehand. Fingers crossed it's not cancelled again !

Anyway, that's what is going on in my life at the moment and though I've not been active here I do still read some of the posts and I would like to say " I wish everyone A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS" as pain free as possible. Take care, June xx

Wow! Thanks for posting about the new electronic treatment, I just went online and looked it up!!

Already it sounds amazing, and DRUG-FREE!!!! Even tho, I too will be in my 70s if they can't hurry it up.

Certainly worth praying about, on this Christmas Eve.....

Hello Julie, thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately I had a phone call from admissions this morning and my operation has been cancelled yet again, and the new date is now 12th Feb. Apparently I had been put on the day surgery list instead of over night stay. Our hospitals are all under such strain, aren't they, so I'm not surprised really.

Anyway, I wish you a very happy Christmas and perhaps we can catch up properly in the new year.

June xx
