well, my exhibition is hung (thanks to my helpers) so in the middle of another sleepless night (thanks, Prednisilone), I find myself doing another doodle. I wonder how many can relate to this one!

Another good one Jo! Now if only my h was capable of lifting me out of the bath the very thought of a soak in a lovely warm bath would be heaven! We only had a shower in our last house, albeit an all singing all dancing one, but, as we had to make room for a bidet, no bath & was so looking forward when we returned to our old house with it having one. I then found I couldn't get in or out of the blasted thing without help & now it's too much for my h too!

Hope all goes well at your open studio & you get at least a little more sleep tonight. x

Thanks, Heels. I can just about get in, but it's scary; I go down with a thud with no real certainty that I will be able to get out at the end! To do that, I have to turn on my side and inch my way up the back of the back into the adjacent shower using a series of contraptions. All pretty high-risk, but worth it as far as I'm concerned. I never bath if I'm alone in the house. One of two friends normally have to help me over the last hurdle, but I try to do it on my own because I'm a stubborn old thing and get a pathetic sense of achievement out of the exercise!

As you might have read on my update of the other post, not a very good appointment with the consultant. I feel SO drugged now that I really don't know how I will get through the weekend. See the GP tomorrow so perhaps she will have some advice. x

I know, it's the fear of falling again that worries me but pleased you have your bath buddies, if I'm remembering correctly? Our problem is we have a sunken bath but there are steps which lead up to it so the bath edge is level with the final step. So it's not just stepping in as you would if any normal person had designed it! We didn't think it out, long term, stupidly but then we were younger & fitter!

I've not seen your other post as I've been making pud but aware you were going to update us on your appointment once you'd calmed yourself down so will catch up once we've finished dinner. x

Really impressed with your skill on an iPad....so Hockney was right when he said artists would take to it. And yes, the bath story strikes a chord too! I tend to go for the beached whale approach, with a great big towel to hand so I can keep warm as the bath drains and then dry off and inch my way out. Trying to slither out when wet is a recipe for disaster, for me, my OH and the decorations. But sadly it's a special treat even then, as all requires too much planning.

Yes, it does require planning and a confident mood. For ultimate luxury, I can recommend the roof-top natural hot spa in Bath. Bliss! Normal hot tubs are extremely difficult to get into, let alone get out of. Have you tried creative visualisation? I did when I could barely move an inch and imagining having a bath was better than nothing!

Great. Forgotten when I last got in a bath. Like others this would need planning, someone else around and a reasonable movement day. I was looking at holiday cottages the other week and many had a shower over the bath - also not a good thing for me.

Poor you. Although it's scary, and not always possible (as you say, it has to be a reasonable movement day), I love soaking my joints in a hot bath and feel terribly sorry for those who cannot manage it. I hope it wasn't insensitive of me to post that one.

Not insensitive at all. Its good to know that we are not alone in not being able to do things. Farm

Not insensitive, really funny for anyone with RD, I think! Sadly, I can no longer indulge, can get on via a bath board, but getting out impossible since my knee replacement. But I can dream.......

Of course I meant in!

I knew what you meant. I didn't really think you meant water-boarding! So didn't the knee replacement live up to expectations?

Another great one. Keep them coming Jora, not that I wishing you a another sleepless night! x

Thanks Smiler. I hope they help you to live up to your name. I'm sad to read that for most of the respondents a hot bath is a thing of the past. Getting in and out is hell, but I do find the soak enormously beneficial.

I once got stuck in a bath in a holiday house when everyone was out. As I hear my three sons and hubby coming in calling my name some hour or two later I got a surge of pride and somehow propelled myself out by force, taking much bath and my flaying trunk onto the floor with me from where I was unable to move! It led to us going home early as this precipitated a full scale flare. So your lovely pic makes me smile too.

However lovely warm baths now cause huge burning neuropathy as my extremities store the heat so I have to soak them in cold water for twenty minutes straight after so hot baths and showers have lost their chatm for me :-( x

in reply to

I can relate to that twitchy. I had a flare in my feet recently and stupidly went in a hot bath and my feet were 10 times worse afterwards. They were burning and tingly and very uncomfortable.

That's interesting. If I'm in flare, I can't get into the bath, but if it's 'just' the overall stiffness and pain, then I love a good soak. I might try cold water, though the idea doesn't really appeal!

Oh dear, I'll have to come up with a cold water one hjust for you. These sketches do highlight the variability of RA.

in reply to Jora

Mine is certainly a very variant form of RA indeed Jo so I'd need my own personalised images - which wouldn't do for the vast majority of RA sufferers of course! X

in reply to Jora

I think Twitchy meant she put her feet in cold water after a bath not her whole body!

that's great I would love a long hot bubble bath the last one I had at my old house took me 10mins to get out I was well and truly stuck, keep the art work coming ,

Love it!!

Great doodle Jo, just working out if the cat is about to leap in the bath too!! Oh how I long for a hot bath full of aromatherapy oils and bath fizzers. Last bath I had was 2001. I do get in the hydro pool every week but not quite the same. Best of luck with your exhibition xx
