phsio pull/push day tomorrow

Wish me luck I am back to have more treatment pull twist and tug tomorrow. This seems to be making matters worse and now my neck when turning left is just as bad when turning right. It feels like bone on bone and I am getting worried as I have had to stop doing the movements as they have been causing pain, more than before.

Best wishes and prayers are being sent your way

Hi Bob I've just been discharged from physio after months. First exercises made my hands flare and the second lot seem to be hurting my hip. I've had my neck manipulated a few times and the physio said after my depo in sept he could feel there was much less stiffness so though my neck x ray is ok there must be soft tissue inflammation. I have RA in my back too now which gets very stiff first thing. I have to do daily exercises or I sure know about it! Is it your neck that the physio is treating? Hope it goes well and not as bad as your thinking. KiKi x

Hello Kiki

I suffer from Psoriatic Arthritis so it covers neck, shoulders, fingers, hips, knees etc so it is all power to the course I suppose. The Reactive Depression can be very severe and they want me to see the GP to discuss my mood swings

i have problems with my eyes caused by skin on eyelids as well,

All the best

Hope the gp can help with your depression, we have an IAPT service in my area ( improved access to psychological therapies) and I have used it and was very impressed. I have always declined medication but some people do need it of course. how did physio go?

Hello Kiki

Yes I was a volunteer in an organisation that used to give support to patients who had mental health problems. I was their Information Officer for seven years. I had a pat dog called Pip and He used to help keeping members calm

Sometimes he would sit on my knee and He used to break the ice with patients and carers so that they could approach me and the dog in the Information Centre.

Now I am on a Mental Health Task Group, so I can discuss further ways of making treatments better for the NHS

My appointment today, been discharged on an open appointment basis, glad really they really hurt me. So I am sitting quiet at the moment to recover.

Will have a Scottish Treat tonight.

All the best

Sorry to hear about your neck, Bob. Physio can often make you feel worse before better in my experiences. I usually feel confused as to if it is benefitting me when I go for the first sessions. Traction difficult ... it helped some part of my legs and caused problems for others. I was housebound and limping for a month. If you feel you are worse with the traction then maybe the physio has to ease off a little. Maybe other exercises/treatment with the infrared/heat? that the physio can do to you and show you will be more beneficial. The best thing for me was always hydro but now would need some jelly sandals with a small heel as I could not walk into a pool bare foot due to Achilles/under foot problems when walking flat. I do not want to go in a hoist so unless they have a ducking stool ..... ;-) I know with neck injuries and problems it can make you feel very nauseous. I had neck traction for a whiplash 20 years ago and that was unpleasant. Hope you can find some exercises/treatment to help you and feel better soon. NK x
