I'm with you on this, so far I'm on my second run of 'waiting in' for my phone call to start the process of mandatory reconsideration - unfortunately due to their delays (and funnily enough my ill health) I am now outside the one month period they stipulate for starting the mandatory reassessment process - I have phoned them 7 times though, all within the one month period..... I wish you luck, and hope for myself that I get the blasted call today or tomorrow, if not I will be contacting my MP - I think they hope we will just give up.....

Did you keep a copy of your application form? If you did, then it might be worth taking it to the disability advisor at CAB to have a look over, and see if they think there is enough evidence in there to make a successful claim. If not, then it might work out quicker to wait the three months (I think) and apply again with a completely new application, but next time making sure you get a well-informed disability advisor who knows what they are looking for to help you write the application form and make sure all the evidence they need is in there. You'd miss out on any backdating that way though.

thank you earthwitch I have had help from dale they filled in all the forms and doctors letters have been sent it was the atos report it was stupid to say the least, they more or less said if I could go I medical alone by taxi I am fit its a waiting game my mp says people usualy get there claim on appeal they will say anything to get your vote

At the atos site you can ask for a copy of your report if you do appeal you can dispute some of the report. If you have go for another assessment take someone with you. Got mine but lost out on the enhanced mobility by dafault but told if challenge it would challenge all and could get less then I got. Good luck in what ever you do.

I got 10 before got subsidised to get taxi to and from work as walking is really painful they asked if had to go.to.work via bus how far to bus stop it's 20 metres and it's the sane at the other end been getting taxi since October so they joined the 20 + 20 and made it between 20 and 50 meteres so got 10.

That seems so unfair! at least you got some points, maybe next time you will get the full 12 you needed for enhanced mobility rate ,

I'm starting to get nervous about my PIP assessment, but when i think about i'm not even sure why as i don't have anything to hide, Think its down to all the bad feedback about the ATOS and all that. (are they going to tell it how it is in there assessment of me or are they going to make up things!) Then saying that all the assessments i have had for ESA have been first class and they was done by ATOS

Hi

How did the assessment go for you, hope it went well as you said you have nothing to hide so can't see there would be issues. I went in as I was was truthful over everything and where i said can do this but it takes about three goes to get it completed was stated you can't do that in one go so that means you have to complete repeatedly to do and that isn't consistent with what you could do before your illness.

They were really nice went through what I could do what I couldn't and said I was ill asked me to try something and struggled so got the enhanced care. End of the day it's not their decision it's DWP they have to go through their assessment and decide. There was I struggle walking 15 metres in it but also that couldn't do the bus journey as was too much. Could have been far worse so all in all must have done a good report or wouldn't have got the enhanced care. It was the waiting at the end was stressful took nearly 6 weeks to get the award.

This PIP thing is hanging over my head.....I'm really frightened by it. Just one thing, is it true that any other benifits you already have are stopped while they are making a decision? I get help with my rent......there is no way I could afford the rent asked for on my pension......really, really worried. I think I'm making myself sick over just the thought of this coming to me early next year. I'm supposed to be helping you.......

Sorry! XXX

in reply to Jeanabelle60

hi I don't get pip at the moment but I get my rent paid its should not affect that ,I understand if you are on some benefits they suspend them until you have had your medical and that can take awhile to sort but you get back payment if you are awarded you could ring a advice line that know about benefits they would help you , it is a worry there are a lot of people that are concerned at what will happen me for one ,hope things get sorted for you and your health does not suffer too much.

Thanks for getting back to me. Someone else on this cite gave me a link......I think I will go back to it and see if I can get some more questions answered. I don't understand how they can say the are there to represent us and then do this sort of thing. I've worked since I was 14, it was only baby sitting after school but back then you handed everything into the house. I have worked all my life until I had to leave work due to health difficulties......this is so unfair....really makes me angry......people with disabilities often find life hard enough without them making it even harder......there now, rant over......x

You rant away Jeanabelle, it helps to air our worries.

I posted a link earlier, PIP myth buster - it might give some answers to some of your concerns. If you think it would better for you to speak with someone Citizens Advice are excellent at these things & your local Welfare Rights Officer will also be clued up. If you contact your Town Hall they should be able to put give you contact details.

Hope get the answers you need.

It's a difficult period at the mo for all who are going through the process & not helped with conflicting advice from DWP so when I found this thought maybe it would set a few minds at rest, as long as they keep to what has been written in the document of course!

As I've said if it puts your mind at ease maybe speaking with someone in the know would be best for you. As you can appreciate they're very clued up with this PIP debacle. x

Yes there is a community group near by that are rumoured to be the best here in Derry. I'll give then a shout later on in the year so I will be up to date when the time comes. Seems I only missed out by a year. I turned 64 in April 2014. If I had turned 65 then I would never have had to worry about it.......awk well, nothing to be done about it. Thanks again. X
