Knee injections Tuesday if they don't cancel AGAIN??? At 4.30 is that a weird time to go in???? Im having general anaesthetic aswell I'm dreading it to be fair but if it gives me some relief I'll be happy with that xxxx

I hope you're OK. But why are you having a general anaesthetic? I've had knee injections a few times and it was just that, an injection. With variable effects, the last time it didn't help much.

I too am wondering why you are having a general, will you have to stay in overnight with it being a late in the day appt?

I had fluid removed from my knee followed by steroid into the joint, and as I was just expecting a check up I had driven myself to appt. the injection was fine, a little uncomfortable but I stared at the poster on the opposite wall until it was done! I then got up, walked back to my car and drove home! No pain, nothing........I did rest it then for the rest of the day. It has been fine since, and this was about 3 months ago so hope you have a good result with yours.x

Happy Easter back to you Deejojo and everyone else on here.Must admit I'm a bit puzzled by the G/anesthetic having had quite a few joint injections myself,i had my right knee done last Wed.

Are you having another procedure as well ? Good luck anyway xx

No girls just injections I'm in agony with the pain that's probably why I originally thought it would be sedation but no I don't know of I'm staying in I hope not xx

I'm just wondering if you have got it right re having a general?

The hospital would surely have told you things like not eating on that day? Taking someone with you to drive you home or maybe even about taking in your overnight things? If they didn't say any of that then maybe you are just going to have the injection and then home. I hope so as that will be far less traumatic for you than an anaesthetic.

Think I would be phoning them Tuesday morning just so you know.

As the others have said, the injection is fine, a little discomfort for a few minutes and that's it......home you go, all done and hopefully pain relief within a day or so :-))

I have had anesthetic in the knee with knee steroid injections. I don't know why I thought it was always done. it was decided at rhemy appointment to do it there n then and they only had a strong one so had to wait a little while n get someone to collect me as they wouldn't let me leave alone. I did had fluid drained at same time maybe that was why

I think it is usual for some local anaesthetic to be injected at the same time as steroid/fluid drainage, but this is different from a general anaesthetic that Deejojo is talking about. General is where you are actually put under anaesthetic in theatre which is why I am questioning if this is correct. Seems drastic to me if it is just for steroid into knees. Xx

Hi chelae, good luck with the injections! I got some a couple of months ago and they have been great, the effects have lasted well for me. I just laid still and the doc popped them in, I didn't feel too much at all, the next day the knees felt hot and I was told to rest them but it was a soothing heat! I haven't had anaesthetic for them before so hope you don't need one too xxx

Well ladies when I had my assessment the nurse told me then I was having ga so I must be not going in until 4.30 wish me luck x
