Dizziness & Methotrexate

I've been taking 7.5 mg MTX for 5 weeks. The first couple of doses made me a bit spaced out but that was all. The next couple of doses caused awful diarrhoea and my hair is coming out quite a bit. The last dose on Thursday gave me no problem but today I feel extremely dizzy. Is this normal, so long after that dose? Clemmie

I think perhaps you should bide your time with this. Of course contact your GP or rheumy or both if symptoms are particularly bad or worry you unduly or persist. I took Mtx for about 2 years and I tend to say that I had no side effects, even on 25 mg a week. That might not be quite true but all the bits and pieces that may have been Mtx-related, including the odd dizzy spell, were in the early days. I think that we need to drink a fair amount of water while on Mtx, I've heard that from sources I trust though my rheumy never mentioned it - so that might be something to try if you're not doing it already.

Thanks Postle, everything you've said I can relate to. I'm taking it slowly in the hope that I won't have any terrible side effects. Those I have had have been fairly mild but the dizzy ness today was horrible so hopefully, it was just a one off. Clemmie
