Done and dusted.

Just to let you know the operation on my foot went very well and the surgeon is pleased. Have to wear a "boot" for 6 weeks - the first 2 weeks day and night. I call it my Manola Blahnik. It is large, heavy and cumbersome and makes you lopsided but did manage to wash my hair yesterday without toppling over. Having the foot dressed every week at the surgery and go back to the hospital next week to have the wires removed from my 2nd toe, then see the surgeon 2 weeks after that. Just rather bored at home, reading a lot and watching day time TV in the afternoon (how sad is that?) Only allowed to "walk" for 10 minutes every hour to keep me mobile. Although I seem to spend longer than that. Also have to keep the foot up all the time as well.

Unfortunately, with being off all my RA drugs for 5 weeks you can imagine what the RA did - massive flare ups and in a great deal of pain with hands so swollen I couldn't bend the fingers, wrists swollen and shoulders agonising. Even my left foot has swollen up. Took the Enbrel again earlier this week and that has helped enormously. It has reduced the inflammation so I am not relying too much on Nurofen and Paracetemol. Had to call the GP out last week as in such pain - not with the foot or RA but had pulled muscles in my groin and inner thigh and couldn't move without severe pain. He put me onto Co-Codamol which I took for 2 days and which has done the trick.

Hubby being very good - he is doing all the cooking, and shopping - he does have a moan about it but I remind him that when he broke his fibula 3 years ago, I had 10 weeks of running around after him so he can't really complain. Dogs are good company as is my cat who thinks its great that there is always a lap to sit on. Friends have called round and telephoned and e mailed so I don't feel neglected.

Now going down with a cold (again) which i think is as a result of a much lowered immune system - I haven't really been with anyone who had a cold to pass on but obviously picked up the bug somewhere. Anyway will close now as need to go and put my foot up.

Missed you! I'm glad you're back and on the road to recovery. Being immobile makes things difficult so I hope you can keep up the limited movement and healing sessions with cats and dogs

Glad it went well - I had foot surgery a few years back including a wire!

I've just had a total knee replacement so am in the same situation as you!!

I'm recording lots of mindless programes to watch! It's boring isn't it?!

Like you the dogs are keeping me company & my poor husband is doing most of the work although I'm trying to do bits.

I walking with just one crutch but can't walk very far! - I want to do so much more than I can!!!!

Delighted to see you back here Lavender Lady - I've missed you too! At least there's quite a lot of decent stuff on tv just now - I find I'm spoiled for choice with iPlayer and 4oD presently which makes a really nice change I must say. Otherwise box sets of Borgen? The Bridge? Silent Witness? And there's been a great series of programmes with Hugh Fernley Wittingstal visiting Scandinavia - I think it was called "Scandimania". Rest up and enjoy the happy hormones your dogs and cat will be releasing to make that foot heal nicely I hope. Tilda x

Hi all, thanks for your good wishes. Hands flared up overnight again and fighting off cystitis at present which I think has been caused by all the Nurofen I have had to take for the pain and inflammation. Saw the practice nurse yesterday who redressed the foot and is pleased with the way it is looking. Can move my big toe a little but not the 2nd toe which is fixed with the wire until next week. No sign of any infection which is the main thing.

Watching TV in the afternoon and old re runs of Cagney and Lacey - a favourite a few years back. Also been watching Bergerac - how young John Nettles looks (he of Midsomer Murders fame now) + Allo Allo and Are you being Served which i still find hilarious.

Using my walking stick to get around the house which helps my balance. Wheelchair in the boot of hubby's car which has been a godsend as I can't walk very far at present. Going to go shopping with him tomorrow (with wheelchair) and see how I get on. Still very tired and keep dropping off for an hour or so. Sleeping a bit better now that I no longer have to wear the boot at night. Haven't painted the sole red (I thought that was for Laboutins?) as thought the Hospital might not like it! Feel better. I hope all heals as it should after what you are going through.

I watch a lot of daytime tv myself. It's not all that sad. One of my favorite shows is The Talk, very entertaining & fun. Anything to make you smile or laugh, forget your troubles for a little bit is a good thing !

Take Care !

Hi Sylvi, I thought the clocks went forward at the end of March? Anyway, it is lighter now until after 5.30 in the evening which is nice. Can't do much at all and I would really like to get out into the garden but that is a no go area at present. Son and Daughter in law bought us a garden mobile for Xmas which has birds on it and glass globes which catch the sun light - really pretty. It spins round in the wind too so catches the sun that way. The Mahonia Japonica is in flower and smells gorgeous (just like Lily of the Valley). Lots of birds to look at and I can now hear the start of the dawn chorus as it is getting light. A bit quiet at present - more chirps and tweets but some singing as well. Won't be long until the full blown chorus gets under way. Pigeons starting to nest in the Eucalyptus tree. We have had some lovely weather this last few days - really warm with day long sunshine and clear skies.

Hope you are keeping well also. Take care, Love LL x

Good afternoon LL,my garden is looking quite good at the moment,i have a lot of lovely flowers in it. I can't post them on here as my camera size is too big for posting. I have also got a lovely new pair of glasses cats eyes full of pink diamantes. They are so ott. If i say Dame Edna Everage you will get the idea of what they look like. My health hasn't been very good this winter, i have had SAD without realising what was happening, because a fortnight ago i started to come out of it and it was only then did i realise what was wrong. Also i have been told i have CFS to add to the mix. I am have a cat scan and a echocardiogram due as well in the next few weeks and i am also going to the obesity clinic as well. I am really looking forward to spring though when the days get longer and brighter. If you have an email account you will have to message me with it and then i can send you some photos.Love Sylvia.xxxxx
