Hi Dazza, I had the same problem, however, after a brief rest my liver went back to normal and fortunately was able to start taking it again at a lower dose and instead of once a week I take one tablet twice a week. And so far so good. Hope it all works for you

Yes I have too. I was referred to gastroenterology who did various scans and said I've got scarring and stuff. I'm now off methotrexate and in a very painful flare, not helped by steroid injection. The gastro people say mtx isn't good for over but they give biological treatments without it. Rheumatologists don't agree.

hi Cathie just wondering what your symptoms were that you needed to see the gastro people, also hope you are feeling a better now. cheers

They picked up high numbers on blood tests, no other symptoms. But it's led to complete withdrawal of a. RA meds and I don't know what will happen next. Status quo unacceptable.

Hi Dazza, I have now been off MTX for 3 weeks due to liver problems, I am now beginning to get pain and swelling again so have resorted to paracetamol. I see my rheumy in 2 weeks to possibly start Leuflomide if liver levels better. Think I may have to start my Naproxen again before though.

Cathie would u mind saying how high your levels were. Im going on meth plus sulfa once my liver levels drop but im wondering how high is too high my alt jumped from 13 to 66 on just 10mg of sulfa not sure how bad is bad

My rheumy won't use methotrexate on me because of my liver function tests, which were a little out of normal range with no drugs at all. I have never been much of a drinker nor am I diabetic, but they want me to cut carbs because of the liver issue.

Hi there can you tell me what the carbs do please?

I have had raised Liver Function results when taking max dose of anti-inflams such as Diclofenac and Naproxen. Results gone right back down as soon as I have reduced the dose right down. Hard to do that when they are the thing that keeps you moving round.

Carbs---carbohydrates are what our bodies turn to sugar for energy. The dr said that sugar feeds inflammation so I should cut out sweets and other foods like bread, pasta, and white rice to avoid more inflammation.
