Hi All the Rheumy nurse phoned Fran telling her I can go back on Diclofenic as long t is not taken at the same time as my Omeprazole but try and drop the steroid before my next clinic in Oct. Feeling better already,

GP has said there are painkillers we can try but at the same time there are a lot that don’t mix with current meds but has arrange a telephone consultation for Friday morn.

Chest doc is adamant the Hydroxy is the one and only RA drug I can receive but will run it by the main team in Edinburgh.

The rash I had and was hoping it was the hydroxyl kicking in turned out to be Shingles call me lucky. Matt/Fran (matadora) Strachan

Well YOU know how it is!! Lol! Steroids need to kick in ASAP as I am stewarding at Leeds festival next Wednesday for five days ...........

Oh well done! Glad there is a good outcome for you. Seems there a few wins on the board today for us all mind you shingles are not fun I had them at Christmas and ended up with neuralgia in the side of my head OUCH! Hope yours passes quickly with no problems

Why is it though that we always seem to have to battle for recognition of our condition & our pain, for our health professionals to actually listen to us & take time for us!! Makes me so sad....

Hi Sylvi, she got her 1st medal 42 years ago when she married me I gave the change from the ten bob note it only cost 7/6 gave her the change half a crown. hee-hee

Interesting one your GP has said not to take Omeprazole with the Diclofenic

My GP has put me on Diclofenic 3 times a day to be taken with Omeprazole and it has worked wonders level of pain reduced greatly

Hi Paul, it was the rheumy doc who told me not to take Diclofenic he said it would give me an ulcer,

my GP put me on it knowingly that I was on omeprazole for at least 6 years and my stomach was fine. Day 2 and feel a difference already,Matt

That's how I found it, I was on it for 4 weeks stopped within 2 days pain level went back up returned to my GP he said it was fine to take along side the Omeprazole and within 24hrs the level of pain was nil so I'm a happy bunny

Caza, I just recently read that explanation, which makes sense. Because we are all taking drugs to supress an overactive immune system, it gets reduced to near nil. That is why we all have to be tested for TB and HIV especially, before starting a biologic drug. It was stated that doctors should check for these diseases before even starting on DMARDS and Nsaids. Apparantly enough cases have occured to warrent the testing. We all have the Shingles virus if we had chicken pox as a kid. It is harboured in the brain, so the probabilities of it becoming activated are likely if our immune system cannot fight back. Not something to look forward to, but to look out for! LoretXX

Thanks for replying. That's interesting,I don't think I've been tested for TB or HIV. That might explain why when I was stung by a wasp last week I ended up having a nasty flare. X
