I have been injecting humira for about 6 month with some success but wondered for how long I can expect a measure of sustained remission.

Hello Magicsam (love the name!)

I'm really pleased the Humira is helping you. In terms of how long it might help for, I suspect, as with most things "RA" there is no certain answer about that. Humira worked well for me for about a year and a half but unfortunately I became allergic to it and had to stop after that time. But prior to Humira I was on another anti-tnf (Infliximab) and that gave me a good 5 years of complete remission. I know not everybody finds these drugs work so well for them and I know that I am one of the lucky ones in that respect. I very much hope you will be too.

Thanks for replying Tilly,

as you suggest these things are dependant on the individual, guess I just wondered if there were any research statistics out there on the net.

ps filched the name from a sublime 60's blues musician; worth checking out if anybody is into that type of music.

In the same place as you and hoping its the Humira that's helping not the steroids so I also wonder the answer to this. axx

Humira only started to be used from 2001/2003, so there's only just on 10 years experience of it. But the company recently completed some research that showed that the results were very positive for people who'd been on it for 10 years.
