vit D
I think oily fish and some dark green vegetables have vit D and of course sunlight is the thing. My GP didn't check my Vit D levels but I did ask him about it because of living so far north. Up here we have the highest MS statistics in the world and it is thought that this is because of Vit D defficiency. My GP just said that as long as I got out a few times a day and walked the dog I should be okay because no supliment will compensate for what nature can provide but if you have been stuck indoors a great deal with your RA that probably accounts for why you are needing so much of it. I think of oily fish because they said on our local news re the MS figures here that the reason Norway had lower figures is because of the diet of oily fish they have there. Sorry not to be more help Kath - my nails are weak too so I just take over the counter suppliments now and try to get out in the sunshine whenever possible. TTx
You could also massage some cuticle oil into the cuticles
There is a supplement called hair skin and nails but if I remember right it si just mainly B vit,s magnesium copper zinc. The usual multi vits and minerals.
My nails are awful now too and used dto be great! I did take MSM which is a sulphur supplement for hair and nails but stopped mainly due to feelign I took enough pills! But this may work for you. I take another supplemtn that contains Vit D and also calcium and other minerals to guard against osteoporisis. Take Fish Oil, Starflower Oil, Vit E, Vit C and green lipped mussel extract good for ligaments, joints. But still my nails are awful!! I may try the cuticle oil.
Vit D in the news a lot lately and I can't get out every day but do try. I do eat well though, so hopefully am okay.
