What an exciting year for NRAS

Hi,

Its Val again, Events Fundraiser here at NRAS.

As you know this is a very exciting year for NRAS as we are celebrating 10 years. With all our challenges and runs we are hoping to be able to enter teams of 10 to link in with our anniversary. Darren, a hardened supporter of NRAS, has taken part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of NRAS for the last 3 years. This year to celebrate our birthday he has decided to take on the challenge of running in the Great North Run on the 18th September and then the Royal Parks Half Marathon on the 9th October – what a challenge! He has also managed to get a team together to do it with him! Would you like to take on this challenge? Please do get in touch if you would.

Ailsa, our Chief Executive, is once again going to take part in the Great North Run in her wheelchair, she has a team of medical advisors all ready to push her around the course. Ailsa took part in the Great North Run in 2007 and raised over £12,000 for NRAS. Please help us to break this target this year.

Some of our other challenges this year are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks in under 12 hours and walking Hadrian’s Wall in a weekend. Another challenge very close to my heart is our tandem skydive which takes place on Saturday 7th May – foolishly I have said I will take part (I am scared of heights!) We have a team of 6 from NRAS all willing to take on the challenge of jumping out of a plane at 13,000 feet. We have now set up our online fundraising page and would be very grateful if you would consider sponsoring the team. On Monday we held our own ‘Tea for 10’ tea party in the office. Some members of staff made cakes from our recipe booklet, we invited other businesses in our building to come along and have a cup of tea and a piece of cake with us. It was a great success with everyone enjoying lots of yummy cakes and we managed to raise £41!

If you would like to take on a challenge or run for NRAS please do contact me on 01628 501547 or by email at fundraising@nras.org.uk. If you have your own challenge in mind we would love to hear about it. Perhaps you would like to hold your own ‘Tea for 10’ tea party or organise a dress down day at work – we really don’t mind what you do – just do it for us!

Please help us to make this year a very special year for NRAS.
