NRAS group meetings this week!

These are the NRAS groups that are meeting this week:

Bolton NRAS Group

This NRAS group is coordinated by NRAS Member & Volunteer, Jean, with the help and support of Senior Sister Beverley Travers. Meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month at Bolton One, Moor Road, Bolton BL3 5BN from 2:00-4:00pm unless otherwise stated.

4th June - Laura Bromilow, Specialist Rheumatology Pharmacist, Bolton FT. Up-to-date drug information and what is being trialled and tested.

Birmingham North NRAS Group

Meetings for this group take place on Tuesdays on alternate months at Sutton Coldfield Methodist Church, 16 South Parade, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham B72 1QY from 12:30pm-2:30pm unless otherwise stated. For satellite navigation use postcode B72 1RB due to barriers from traffic in the road.

4th June - Useful Gadgets! Please bring along something that helps you in your day to day life.

Sheffield NRAS Group

As of 2013 meetings for this group will take place on alternate Thursdays and Saturdays at The Quaker Meeting House, 10 St James' Street, Sheffield S1 2EW from 1:30pm-3:30pm unless otherwise stated.

Thursday 6th June - Dr Laura Turner from The Pain Clinic will be talking about the emotional consequences of pain and how to cope with this and physical pain.

Everyone welcome – you do not need to be a member of NRAS to attend.

This is an open, free event.

on the treatment of RA; encourage better self-management and much, much more.

    The furthest south-west there is a group is in Plymouth, then we have groups in Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire so it just depends where in the South West you live:

    Phil & Susan co-ordinate this group and call themselves PADRAGS (Plymouth & District Rheumatoid Arthritis Group Support). Meetings are held in the Health Education Room at Mount Gould Hospital, Plymouth PL4 7QD from 1:00pm - 3:00pm (unless otherwise stated).

    Thursday 20th June (1-3pm) - Senior rheumatology nurse, Nikki Day will be in attendance with a patient and his disability dog who will be giving a talk

    Other than that there are a few groups in Somerset:

    Mid Somerset NRAS Group - Taunton

    This group was launched in March 2011.

    Meetings are held at the Taunton Rugby Club, Hyde Lane, Bathpool, Taunton TA2 8BU. Please note that from 2013, winter meetings will be held on a Saturday morning and summer meetings will be held on a Tuesday evening. Please see details below for specific dates and times.

    Weston-super-Mare Group (WARM)

    This group meets on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm (unless otherwise stated) at Asda Community Centre, Asda Stores Ltd, Phillips Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 3UZ

    10th July - Gillian Cook, Dietician will be speaking on Diet and RA

    11th September - Judy Caesely, Dental nurse talking about 'How to look after teeth with RA'. Please bring along your toothbrush!

    13th November - Jobo Crafts Activity - to be confirmed closer to meeting date

    11th December - Christmas Lunch

    Wednesday 19th June - Annual Day out to Bath Spa

    It will be a two hour session in the spa with food in between. The cost for the two hour session is £26, but disabled guests and a carer can get in for half price. There are robes, slippers and towels for hire at the cost of £9. There will be some cars travelling from Morrison's car park so if you would like to go along please email kim@nras.org.uk or call the NRAS office on 01628 823 524.

    Thursday 27th June - Book sale for RA Awareness Week

    The group are holding a book sale to coincide with RA Awareness Week on Thursday 27th June to raise funds and awareness. This will be held at The Campus, Highlands Lane, Weston-super-Mare BS24 7DX. If you have any books you would be willing to donate then please do go along on the day and support the NRAS Weston-super-Mare group.

    Hydrotherapy Sessions have been specially organised by the group coordinators. These are held on Mondays from 7.15-8.15pm at The Campus, Highlands Lane, BS24 7DX for people with inflammatory arthritis. Sessions currently cost £5 but will decrease with full participation numbers.

    Yeovil NRAS Group

    Tina and Elaine co-ordinate this group and meet at the Holy Trinity Church and Community Centre in Lysander Road, Yeovil, BA20 2BU on the third Wednesday of every other month from 7:00pm to 9:00pm unless otherwise stated.

    In Dorset there is:

    West Dorset NRAS Group (Dorchester)

    Following the launch and information meeting in October, a gathering of group coordinators took place in November. The group decided to hold the first West Dorset NRAS Group meeting on Thursday 28th March at 7:00pm. The location for this meeting was the Dorchester Day Centre, Acland Road, Dorchester, Dorset DT1 1SH.

    Thursday 26th September - Julia Williams, instructor of Tripudio Movement will be running a gentle exercise session and talking about the health benefits of exercise

    Wiltshire:

    Salisbury NRAS Group

    Formed in 2011, the group meets at Sarum College, The Close, Salisbury SP1 2EE (free parking available) from 6:30pm-8:30pm on a Wednesday unless otherwise stated
