Day 6 and catching up

So day 6 pretty much safely negotiated. A few cravings and a bizarre moment when Mrs F asked whether I might be better off waiting until after my daughters wedding before giving up - probably an indication of my crankiness!

In the meantime a brief update on things that have happened since I was last on here:

- all of my kids have finished Uni, got jobs and moved into places of their own which is amazing and makes me very proud;

- we all got through Covid;

- I have taken up long distance hiking and have done the Coast to Coast and Pennine Way;

- I have largely retired from work just doing some consultancy from time to time;

- Mrs F still puts up with me.

Great to have the Fordy humour back!! You are flying it and almost have your first week over you, well done! Actually think it is good to have your first curveball for your daughters wedding next week as the first 21 days are the hardest and will have it out of the way, fingers crossed!

You can definitely see the huge pride you have in your family and glad retirement is going well for you.

I am currently on short term early retirement myself, not my own choice but due to my health letting me down!

In November 2020, I survived a massive pulmonary embolism (blood clots) in my heart and lungs which caused type 2 respiratory failure, As my consultant and team said, 'I was on the verge of death and miracle I was alive' when the paramedics brought me in. Fast forward, almost 2 years now, I have grabbed life with both hands, completely changed my lifestyle and building myself back up and learning to live with the long term effects of my condition.

Stay strong and looking forward to your progress updates :)

Roisin, wow that must have been very scary!! I hope that things are ok now. Sounds like you are doing everything to not only manage things but to "live your best life" as they say. Well done for doing so much to take control of things and have such a positive outlook on life. Inspirational!

I can see Mrs F's point of view. I remember the crankiness very well. Mrs N once threw a pack of cigars at me when we went on holiday and said, "There you go, I don't want you being miserable all the way through the holiday!" That was in a previous quit I hasten to add and I wouldn't recommend it!

Sounds like you're keeping yourself busy Fordy. I must admit I'm jealous of you and Roisin for being semi-retired. I think I have had enough of working now but at least I get to work from home 2 days a week now (one of the few good things to come out of COVID)

Now Nozmo why does it not surprise me that you should take Mrs F side in this 😊 Fortunately there have been no throwing incidents so far but give it time. I have to say that I am really enjoying retirement. Life is crazily busy but largely in a good way. The hybrid working from home arrangement is one of the few good things to come out of Covid - it gives people so much more flexibility and I guess it means that you see more of the kids. Is your daughter still living at home?
