I can Breathe

I’m just over 2 months quit. My brother quit a few weeks before me. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day - temperature was just right. My brother and I took our pups for a 2 hour hike and I was so happy that I wasn’t so breathless on the uphills! I felt so much better:). I didn’t even have a craving during our post hike beer 🍺. So far, so good. I still get cravings (memories?) but I verbalize the craving, acknowledge that it’s just ol Nic trying to seduce me, and fortunately the cravings pass. I cannot be happier about my choice to quit! We have another nasty Canadian winter coming, and shivering outside to poison myself just seems so stupid!

Thank you to everyone here for sharing your stories and providing support. What a great world wide community!

Congrats Ccurn and yes a great picture.

The cravings soften slowly, I call them nostalgia. I guess it applies to bad things also. I'm still nostalgic about the graffiti ridded, dirty, crime-infested NYC I grew up in. :)

What a wonderful picture . Congratulations 2 months is great because now you can feel the peace of mind and the accomplishment feeling is growing .Just don’t forget to avoid alcohol for first 3 months and reduce caffeine just in case ..

Keep it up 👍👏

Thank you ! I won’t get complacent. Leaving work the other morning I had such a craving... it passed thankfully.

Hi there! Thank you for asking after me :) So far so good.. fewer cravings for sure and not smoking is becoming more normal. I’m still emotional sometimes and I do get occasional ‘out of the blue’ cravings, but I KNOW if I just deep breath through it, it will pass. And I KNOW I can never take a puff.. ever.

Thank you and this great site for helping me.

I’m well! Busy selling my house and moving to smaller town. It’s been a battle since my “slip” after my pupper died. I think NOPE is so true. You think, what’s one or two cigs.. but nic is ready to grab hold!

I’m grateful for this site and the words of wisdom, advice and understanding. I’m doing well.. and will continue to battle the odd craving so I can remain smoke free. For me, I have to remain vigilant.
