Thing's that make me think "WHAT"

I have friends who smoke. They do not smoke in their own house or their cars. They had planned on coming for a visit for a week or so. She actually asked me does this mean we will not be able to smoke in your house. Hello why would I let someone smoke in my house when I no longer smoke in it?

I have worked my butt off washing down walls to get the stinky, sticky crap off my walls but I am suppose to let someone come in and smoke. NOT HAPPENING. I smoked for 50 years but I never expected I had any right to smoke in someones house who did not smoke.

I have a friend who smokes a lot. Since I quit she has only been to my house one time and I think it is because she know's she can't smoke in my house any more. I never let cigarettes control my life like that. I never would not go to someone's house just because I couldn't smoke. The only smoking worries I ever had was if I had to go out of town to training and could not smoke in a hotel room or around the training building.

That's an interesting one, bearnut ! I hope your friend was pulling your leg but just in case they weren't I would ask them that in relation to smoking they treat your home as if it were their own, i.e., that they respect it as a smoke-free zone. :o)

I have the opposite 'problem'. My two oldest friends both smoke and they smoke in their homes. Now I've stopped I need to consider what I'm going to do when I visit them.

Congratulations on your 100 day+ quit; that's a fabulous achievement.

So have they been to your house and visited yet?

No they haven’t. We tend to meet and stay over at the unmarried, single friend’s house so we can be completely ‘carefree’ 😂

I take it they can smoke there? Isn't strange that people quit coming over just because they can't smoke in your house? I never did not go to someones house just because I knew I couldn't smoke. And I smoked a lot - pack and half a day.

The 3 of us used to puff our heads off indoors and out. If anything I was the one to go and smoke outside.

I never enjoyed being in a room full of smokers because my eyes would stream and I couldn’t get rid of the smell. It’s been 14 years since I smoked inside my own home.

How are you getting on lagatachocolate ? Almost at your 50 days milestone now :O

All good, Roisin; thank you for checking up on me 💗

Here’s my mini update:

Friday I survived after-work drinks 🍸🥤 at the pub with 4 smokers. It was tougher than I expected/hoped but I didn’t smoke.

Saturday morning I went to bootcamp and got wet and muddy but had great fun.

This morning I had a double spin class and boy I am glad I don’t smoke now because it was tough 🚴🏽‍♀️💨 😂

This Friday I am jetting off ✈️ to Lisbon for a mini break so that will be my next smoke-free challenge. I used to love sitting on the balcony/terrace with music playing, a glass of wine🍷 and a cigarette when on holiday so I’ve bought some nicotine free juice and will take my vape as a precaution.

And tomorrow will be 50 smoke-free days for me and my fellow New Year’s Day quitters; aren’t we awesome!! 😂💗

What a great update lagatachocolate - well done on the drinks temptation, bootcamp and a double spin class, that is great. But, hats off to you for preparing for your holiday as likely it will be very tough so early on in your journey, you are in this for the long haul :D

Enjoy Lisbon, it is a lovely city, was there a couple of years ago, be prepared for lots of steep hills (will cover your spinning classes while on hols!!), our hotel was on top of a very steep one and thought my legs were going to snap walking up it :D We done the day trip to Fatima, very tranquil place just to reflect if you get a chance to do it...

Post tomorrow on your 50 days, ya deserve all the recognition for this big milestone :)

Yes, that was the most interesting thing - they don't smoke in their own home but expect to in others? "treat your home as if it were their own" -exactly, go outside to smoke as you usually do.

you got that right LOL people....... thought just crossed my mine also - people who smoke dope in there house but didn't want people smoking cigarettes in their house. I suppose its once again your house -your rules LOL

hi bearnut

I would expect them to have respect for you and your home.

I would show them a ass tray and seat outside.

you've stopped they should want to help you.

your doing great 😁

take care 😊

keep kicking 😁

Oh, I have a big deck but it is too cold to sit outside here. I'm thinking they better wait until its warmer.

Hey bearnut - I would make it out that you thought they were joking and tell them you have a smoke hut set up outside for them and that inside is now your smoke free temple, thats what I told my family who all smoke when I stopped - friends too were told it :)

They all got the big picture. My brother live's with me and smokes. He flipped when I told him no more smoking in the house. After a month of him freezing by smoking out in the cold he told me he may have to move to a smoking house. I told him whatever. Needless to say he is still here 3 months later.

Your house, your choice, your rules - not a difficult concept.

It is difficult Bearnut.....But I never smoked in my house out of respect for my wife who stopped about 7 years before me...Smoking on the veranda was excepted and all our friends and family adhered to that rule...

OK we are lucky in Moz, the temperature seldom drop below 15° C...!

I am sure your friend will understand...!! and if she doesn't she is going to have a coldie outside..!!

OK, my friend who smokes a lot dropped by last night. This is only the 2nd visit in 4 months. I had thought she had avoid coming over because of the no smoking but I must have been wrong because she walked in smoking. I did not say anything until she ask for an ashtray. When I told her we don't have any she instantly remembered and ran for the deck. She made a comment about me not going out with her. HELLO it's cold out there. It wasn't 20 minutes later she had to go out for another one. She did not stay but an hour. I never realized how much she smoked. I smoked a pack and half a day but I never had a problem going 4 hours without. I am so glad to be over it.

I did go shopping and bought vitamin's. I purchased a pack of prep packaged vitamins. 30 day supply for $15.00 at first I said I'm not paying that for one month. LOL untiI realized what a bargain compared to the cost of cigarettes..

Another day closer to better health and saving tons of money.

I can't get over your friend walking into your house smoking :O Anyway, at least she knows the story now.

The vitamins will be a great help to you as your body rewires and repairs, definitely worth the cost :P Keep up the great work!

PS How did you get on with the doctor yesterday?

Thyroid is messed up again but he thinks I have brokage in my neck now. I had to go for a test for that today. Waiting for results of that.. Always something. He did up my anti depressants. I think he thinks it will help me lose some weight. I can only hope. I can't stand being over weight.

I have to much stuff going on. I'm getting divorced after 35 years. My husband's trying to screw me on that and I don't feel like I have the energy to fight him on it. Lawyer's charge so much that I really don't feel like spending 30k to get 40k if you know what I mean. I just don't think it's worth it. My ex sister in law got charged 30k so out of the 45k she was suppose to get she received 15k.

This to shall pass.. I hope.
