Hi all, I am a newbie so apologies if I am doing this wrong! I am from Ireland and after 16yrs have decided to quit. Today is day my third day on champix and I have been so nauseous.. I haven't even started the two. 5mg a day yet.

I have been taking them with food and I am really worried about upping the dose tomorrow, has anyone else had this? Should I bring forward my quit date? To be honest I feel so sick I don't really want to smoke anyway!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Rachy..Welcome and being a Champix quitter myself I am getting goose bumps reading your post...

Champix worked for me and I could cope with the nausia..The morning one was the worst and I took it at 9 am with breakfast...! (My work day start at 05h00)

Drink lots of water and I started to drink green tea..naturally relaxing...!

I was a hard core 60 a day smoker and with the aid of Champix stopped completely on day 12 after starting to use Champix.. (on day 9 I only smoked 3 cigs)

Just keep in mind that Champix does not make you stop ...You must stop.!

Stay strong

This is quite normal and the worst part of champix. Your body will get used to it and when you stop smoking the sickness feeling does get better. If you feel your ready go for it. Lovely to have you on board

Thanks everyone for the support, it's great to know this is normal, it's not unbearable yet but so scared to increase the dose. I took the morning one a while ago with dry toast as suggested in another post and so far so good!! Fingers crossed this helps and I can keep up the champix, I really want to quit.. So sick of being the slowest/most unfit when trying to exercise!

Thanks again and fingers crossed for me 🤞 🤞 🤞

Huge welcome to our community Rachy741 and congratulations on making the best decision of your life to stop smoking.

Nausea is one of the most side effects from champix - below link is a pinned post on tips for it if not already read.

When I tried champix a few years ago, I couldn't cope with feeling sick either, so I only took half a tablet every evening. That seemed to help. No idea why I started smoking again after as they worked brilliantly.

Good luck with your quit x

Hi Roisin, oh I've been here ages, I just keep forgetting to log in. I think I posted a couple of months ago. I didn't think about doing an introductory post, as I always fail at giving up 😂, seems to be better this time though. I'm going to have a look at posts on giving up the e cig, I've tried a few times, but I turn into a nightmare mum, the kids end up hiding from me lol.

Don't seem to see any posts from you here in this community, but you appear to be a member of another community here on HealthUnlocked called 'Quit Support'....

So have you stopped smoking with the aid of an e-cig? We have several members who have successfully stopping smoking and using e-cig and are over their 1 and 2 year milestones - Nozmo Abuelajeannie and Hidden are a few of them if you want to have a look at their journeys, I stopped over 2 years ago cold turkey....

Oh that's weird, I just clicked the link in the email I got. Well thankyou for the warm welcome. 😀

Yes, ive tried every single option I think to quit, so the e cig was my last, it's going well so far, I don't even miss the real thing ( probably as I'm still full of nicotine 😂)

I'll have a read of the the others journeys, hopefully they will give me some e cig inspiration, and make me feel less guilty about still using it.

I'm going to buy some zero nic liquid tomorrow, see how that works out. Thankyou for the info.

Rachel x

Welcome, welcome.

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks smoke free. Nicotine patches was my answer. Did Col turkey and lasted 30 days. The patches are doing the job very well, no cravings.

I hope Chantix is the answer for you, if not, stick with it til you find the right one.

I wish you good luck and sending good karma for you!😉

Lexree1 Week Smoke Free

First off I just want to say congratulations on quitting smoking. I know how had it is I'm on day 22 of being smoke free and yes I am also on Champix too. It works I have 2 more weeks of taking these pills than I finished the whole 3 month trial. I had nausea for about 7 days than I decided to take my First bluse pill at lunch instead of in the morning that really helped but I also suffered headaches for about 2 months. Everyone will experience something different from Champix.

I wish you well keep us posed on how your doing and if you have any questions please feel free to ask!!!!

Good job I'm proud of you it's the best decision we could have ever made for ourselves

Thanks everyone for the advice and support, I have decided to tough it out for now and hopefully the nausea will ease off soon! I have definitely cut down, only smoking about 3/4 a day compared to previous 20.

I am aiming to stop completely on day 12, if it happens sooner all the better.. 😀

I do find the morning pill to be the worst so I will try taking it at lunch instead.. If it gets any worse I will definitely cut down to one tablet. Thanks for the tips!

On the upside, I'm definitely not going to be putting on much weight if this keeps up.. I'll be the skinniest non-smoker around! 😂 theres a silver lining in everything eh?

Thanks again all, it's great to know people have persevered and survived!
