No longer a prisoner!

As a typical awesome quitter, I had become very good at quitting but have failed at staying quit. The time has come for me to finally give it up, no more. I set my quit day back in the spring for October 10-17. Like everyone else, I was very scared this time and wasn't sure why. But I did it, I got through my first day and am half way through my second day COLD TURKEY! But I am not alone, my amazing and loving husband has joined the battle with me to tag team this addiction of ours :)

Best of luck angelinafoote , try to take it by the scruff of the neck. Go for it but expect some hard times. They may not come but if they do, and you're ready for them, they're easier to deal with. it's ultimately worth going through.

Try to team up with other quitters that are going through it at the same time as you, like drfzff and all the others just starting out. It really makes a difference when you can connect with other people going through the same stage and experiencing the same things. If there's one thing I've learned on my time here on this forum it's that most of us have the same experiences, regardless of quitting method (I used an ecig)

Speak up about how you're feeling, good bad or indifferent, and try to get involved as much as possible. It really helps!

Welcome angelinafoote and congratulations on Day 2! I too quit cold turkey over 2 years ago and never looked back - it has been/is a bumpy road but so achievable by being ready to attack each day and at least expected times, its good you not doing it alone and your hubby is with you - remember this is your journey and unique to yourself and stay focused only on your journey and achieving it. Stay close to us and read up as much as you can all the pinned posts across this page if not already done so.

Keep busy, lots of water, fruit and veg and a little walk each day to clear the head. We look forward to reading your progress :)

Thank you! I agree 100% and so does hubby! :) we both made the plunge together but are also very aware that this is our own individual battle. We've quit together before and he would start first then I would eventually follow suit. Not this time though! We made the jump now it's up to ourselves to swim or sink...although swimming with a partner is always more fun ;) I am really excited to not stink anymore haha!

Well done. When the cravings hit, just hold out for 2 minutes at a time. (small targets are easier) then another 2 minutes and so on, it works. I smoked for 50 years and gave up almost 18 months ago. Go for it, keep strong.

Thanks so much- besides the fluctuating emotions flying back and forth I think we just might do it this time! I know for sure I'm definitely done as we've both quit together before but he would start then I would follow suit...not this time though! I just read one of your posts and you're absolutely right...it comes down to choice plain and simple.

Hey angelinafoote - hope day 3 is going well for you and your hubby - nicotine will be out of your system by end of today and then you need to be ready to attack as your mind and body rewire, repair and recover - post often :)
