Hello there Mel from Oz and welcome to our forum.
Congratulations on making it through your first week without smoking. How are you quitting? There are lots of us on here, all used or using different methods and all all different stages. This means that there is always somebody around to help should you need it. Quitting can often be quite a lonely process so if you need support, please post as often as you need to.
If you look on our homepage, you will find a list of pinned posts at the bottom which are worth a look.
Good luck on your journey. ☺☺
Hi Mel
Warm welcome and wishing you all the success on your journey...Very early in my quit when all was dark and almost unbearable...There was a nurse, Mellie from Oz who carried me through with excellent advice on herbal supplements to get the happy chemicals (dopamine) moving again...It worked and I never looked back ...Enjoy this roller coaster ride and speak to us on the forum often...Stay strong !!
Well done on over 1 week Twinkle4 - this is a great community for support and encouragement so try and use as often as you can especially if struggling
Welcome Twinkle4 and congratulations on now well over 1 week quit - how are you finding it, did you quit cold turkey or with some NRT?
How is things going now Twinkle4 (Mel)?
Hi there. I have tried several times this year to quit. I have just bought a pack after two days on patches. I got stressed at work and WHAM! Caved in. Then discovered my patch had fallen off sometime earlier in the afternoon. Id have to say i dofind patches effective. I did hypnotherapy in November and got six weeks up. However i felt like i was going mental. Couldn't sit still and constantly irritable and moody. Then a few weeks ago i bought a vape pipe and used nicotine flavoured fluid. That lasted a week. I am so tired of smoking. I was heartened to read that with drawals last up to three months. I.e. moodiness. Irritability. This information was interesting to me as i had thought withdrawals usually only last a few days. So that explains my extended moodiness after the hypnotherapy. I huess being mindful of how long it can takes is helpful. Results take time. Ill smoke this pack and try again.
Good to hear from you Twinkle4 - Mel, sorry to read you relapsed but never give up quitting, you will get the solid quit once you learn from your previous attempts - yes, knowledge is vital in our quits and embracing the best journey of your life, you will never regret quitting but will regret not quitting. Patience is also a great trait to have, for me, I thought after a week I would be a new healthy me but it takes time for the mind and body to rewire, repair and recover, but the good news, the body and mind is remarkable and will recover. I am now almost 2 years quit cold turkey
