Another ski trip - different vibe

How different is my life as a non-smoker compared to this time last year! Those first few weeks of giving up made our ski trip a living torment, culminating in me having a serious meltdown at Geneva airport and my family questioning my sanity. Back again this year with some pals and how things have changed. Have just had a great day without even thinking of having a smoke. Currently in a bar having a cheeky beer before nipping off for dinner. Bliss! Lucky me

Remember that well Fordy, good to hear there's no chance of it happening again. I know what you mean - there's no comparison to this time last year.

Enjoy your trip!

Cheers Nozmo - this time last year time seemed to drag so slowly - every hour seemed to last a bleddy week. Now life trucks on, spring is on its way and all is good with the world. In some ways though my meltdown (and believe me it was a BIG meltdown) was a good thing. As well as all of the other early symptoms of quitting (exhaustion, lethargy, flu and just generally feeling rubbish) it made me realise I just had to make my quit work as I couldn't face going back through all that pain another time.

Amen to that. the thought of going back to the first few weeks makes me shudder. I didn't suffer too much (using the e-cig) but it's something I wouldn't want to endure again. Luckily I have no plans to relapse in the near future. Bugger that.

Tracey3 thank you so much. Lovely to hear from you and to see that you are back on the wagon and avoiding the dreaded corner shop. Your strength in the face of so much adversity is genuinely inspiring

Enjoy the rest of your trip Fordy. I just got back from St. Anton and it was all good, the friends, food, beer, & snow. We spent one night in Innsbruck and everyone seemed to be smoking in one bar. But I felt little temptation to join them (though not none). But I happily settled for the bacon dumplings.

CocoaXChange - bacon dumplings. Now they sound good (although suspiciously calorific). St Anton is great - there is a great place in St Christophe to stop for lunch as well. Am off again in a week or two with the kids - this time to Switzerland (I know, I know RoisinO1 - another holiday!). With all of these trips you might imagine that I was ok at skiing but you would be sadly mistaken - I strive for the dizzy heights of mediocrity and generally don't get there but it is always fun trying

What a difference a year makes FordyP - seems only a few months ago from your posts on the slope back then - knew you would come far from that post, well done and enjoy the rest of your trip :)

Thanks RoisinO1 - you know that a major reason in my getting this far is the support of all of you guys on this site. Couldn't have done it without you
