Hi all

Well iv not posted here for a while or even at all as far as the second week but i am now :)

I have used the patches for the first few days and lozengrs and had to give up the patches due to them making me feel ill. I have an e cig which i use throughout the day but i am trying to cut down on this as i want to be nicotine free hopefully by week 4.

What i wanted to ask was has anyone had constant fatigue around this time in the past? I must admit i have given up drinking energy drinks at the same time as well so im not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Anyway good luck people :)

I also was constantly tired when I first quit. I drank less coffee, not intentionally, but I just seemed not to drink as much. I walked more and did other things to try to keep busy so that may have been part of it. Eliminating nicotine was probably part of it also. My fatigue went away after about 2 months, Keep at it and eventually you will feel fine.

the metabolism system slows down and your heart rate slows down drastically after stop smoking.

At the same time, we tend to actually consume much higher amounts of food and in particular sugars and carbs.

What you need to do to stop the fatigue (which is the most common symptom) is to become active and drink loads of water. If all possible reduce the amount of sugars on your diet as it leads to tiredness.

Caffeine is a stimulant but actually, there's strong research proving that overdose of caffeine leads to the opposite effect - I'm a coffee addict, a really bad one.

I would have about 10/11 coffee shots any regular day, the really strong ones that the sugar doesn't go down because too much coffee, too thick...yeah! LOL

Welcome Emma and well done on reaching Day 12.

I am currently 19 weeks smoke free (had myself a week behind earlier today!) and found fatigue like a roller coaster over the weeks, I think the weather (well, here in Ireland anyway!) played a big part in it as earlier on in my quit before the dark evening back in October I had alot more energy, now some days I have that energy and other days I don't but I hear non-smokers complaining about fatigue at the moment too....hopefully things will improve for us all when summer comes....

Heey...I was in a constant "fog"...soo tired, so dizzy...almost fainted a couple of times...it was horrible for three weeks...after that the whole fact that I did made it, was simply amazing...309 days after my quit I am still amazed with myself...
