Hi repo, welcome to the forum and well done on your 3 weeks.I've heard many people complaining about headaches specially in the early quit. I suffer from migraines and I have quite the opposite, once I stop smoking the migraines disappear, that is actually one of the reasons why I want to stop smoking.I suppose it would make sense, a lot of the headaches are caused by tension, we all know quitting is very stressful... Early nights, no caffeine and buckets of water...neurofen plus might help ;)

I stopped smoking three days ago. I've had a horrid headache ever since. Is this common when quitting? Have other people experienced this?

Becky I suffered from severe migraines my all life and they are gone since I quit.

The most common cause of headaches is stress and tension, the fact that you are on the first days and you are constantly trying to stay quit is very stressful and would make a lot of sense you'd get headaches.

Try something like magnesium powder to keep you calm, it really works.

I would be lost without it!

Excellent advice from Mmaya, Becky... You can really supplement with magnesium..It definitely helps.. I used to get that headache originating in the Madulla oblongata running down my spine. We "Saffys" know the Malaria symptoms and I was convinced it is malaria but tested negative. Then started to supplement with herbal supplements and some containing high magnesium. Really Becky do not suffer and get something to ease the Headache's. It is horrific I know !!

I do take Magnesium amongst other things. Although I've been a smoker strangely enough I've always been aware of my health and what I put in my body. (Ignoring the toxins in the cigarettes of course :) )

My headache cleared up today. Let's hope it stays away. Could it be withdrawals or the poison leaving my body?

Malaria is something I no longer need to worry about Hercu.

I hear in Moz they treat everyone for it at the hospitals.

My son came down with pneumonia while he was there and it was malaria they treated him for!

I'm just back from a long walk in the foggy fields, picking the last of the blackberries.

I have to admit that arriving back home my first thought was "wouldn't a smoke be good right now".

How many months before you got used to being a non-smoker? Didn't you say something about still feeling for your lighter in your top pocket?

I still HAVE my lighter in my jacket pocket.....

I wouldn't say months, I suppose every one's quit is different.

I started feeling comfortable with not smoking after day 45.

I still think a lot about smoking but more like I'm terrified of relapsing and having to do this again.

I really do not want to smoke!

God knows what's going to happen and I may not even last another day, but at least I did try hard.
