... Because last June I picked up a cigarette and chose to smoke. 3 years and 8 moths quit and I decided to smoke again. It's that simple really, there's no excuse, my dog didn't eat my homework, I didn't face a huge stress, I had a row on holiday with my husband and I chose to have a Smoke to make myself feel better. I started with 2-3 a day and convinced myself that was ok. It crept up to 4-5 a day and that too was fine. The last month I've noticed I'm not counting and whereas I 'perceived' I didn't 'need' one before I am starting to find I do now. (In reality we all know I did 'need' it from that first one back) I am an addict, there isn't just one.

Slowly I have felt the shift from me controlling it to it controlling me. Not willing to go there again. So I quit. 5 days clear now. I shall take myself back to day 5 now, I just. Wanted to post in here to say don't get cocky, there isn't just one. It's a myth.

Levs that's a great cautionary tale. Good for you getting back on the horse, wishing you all the best x

I'm gutted for you Levs reading that. Just shows NOPE the only way.

I'm nearly 6 months in but I know, 1 sneaky fag and I will be back to 20 a day in no time.

Best wishes and and more than most you know you are doing the right thing to get back in to it.

It's very easy to slip back to old habits. The one thing I've found is when I said stop and meant it I've stopped. I'm craving a bit but it's my too bad because I know I'm stronger than the nicodemon, when I choose to be.

If you haven't already been pointed towards them then I strongly suggest taking a look at the tales from the quit. The most home hitting one for me is 'Choose your pain'
