I have just joined this forum. I am on day 10 not smoking. I have viewed this forum daily to support me this far cold turkey. It has been great but the advice seems to be to post also so after a tough day 9 I thought I'd start. Thanks for support so far.

Hi Anne Marie, lovely to have you here, welcome aboard! I agree totally with Carol, she knows her stuff I just really wanted to say hi, I am a serial quitter shall we say, I keep trying and failing but determined to get there eventually I am on day 13 xxx
Welcome Annmarie, 10 days cold turkey on your own is a stupendous achievement!
You are quite correct, posting regularly makes for a really good quit aid. You can get advice, help when you're feeling low, help to step away from the precipice if you're thinking of caving and you can offer help, advice and support to others
Stick to NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) and you can't go wrong.
I think you should make a thread in the Week 2 room and announce your 10 days quit so far in style
Hi, hope today is going better for you!!! I think you're really brave going cold turkey!!! I'm still not quite there, planing and prep for me so far but can already tell this forum is going to help so much!! The support and advice you will receive are invaluable, I have only posted once so far but everyone has made me feel so much more positive its unbelievable! Be proud of how well you're doing xxx
Hi Ann Marie, welcome to the forum, I also quit CT and for me it was the best way, not for everyone though, each to their own.
When I first quit over 5 years ago it seemed easier to give support to others, whether they were in the same place as me or behind or in front of me.
Now I struggle to give out those words of wisdom that I so needed myself and which kept me smoke free, its not an easy task you have set yourself as you have probably realized but I promise you that if you stick with it unlike somethings in your life that you look back on and wish you hadn't done, like the first time you lit up  this want be one of them.
At first you don't really see or feel the benefits, I didn't realise for at least 3 months how good I felt, and I know that there will be days were you will think you need a ciggy so bad like your life depends on it, it doesn't so when you feel like that come on here and let us talk you out of it, and if you can't get on here think of how bad you will feel afterwards if you do light up.
Don't worry about your weight either, yea its great not to gain an ounce but I can promise you once you are through the worst losing a few pounds want be half so hard as stopping smoking.
Sip fresh orange juice and suck sharp flavoured sweets, take up a sport or exercise, or join a no smoking group in your area, nothing better for helping you stay quit than people going down the same road.
You take care and I am sure with the help of the great people on hear you will succeed
Wow, thanks so much for the replies and support. I have smoked for 25 years since 15 years old. I have tried to quit before lots of times. Most successful 4 months. Thing is I have been trying to control my smoking ha ha and only have them at certain times of day. Realise now this is impossible and I am miserable, always in withdrawal. So one day at a time I am trying to ride it out and remind myself that want to be rid of smoking for good. I have some breathing problems now as well and want kids to see me do it.
Just the thing I found, ok so I ate more sweets than I would have smoked cigs but eventually that desire to fill your face will peter out and if it doesn't then you will be too big to get out the door to go buy them, only joking, I hope :):eek:
