Ive had quite an easy time tbh doing the Cold Turkey route, but on day 10 I woke up actually thinking about smoking, I wont give up my quit but can someone explain why after 10 days it seems to get harder.

Hi Brian, don't get disheartened by craves out of the blue, it happens to everybody.

I actually used them to my advantage during my early days. On days 4 and 8 I had the mothers of all craves and I had to really, really battle to stay quit. Once I'd beaten those craves I knew I could beat them all.

I don't know how long you smoked or how heavily, but I'm betting it's considerably longer than the 10 days you've been quit.

Think about it, if you smoked 20 per day which is fairly typical, you have smoked every 30 minutes or so for years. That's a pretty ingrained habit and it will take longer than 10 days to get out of.

You'll get craves for several months, but the good news is they get weaker and weaker and easier to brush aside.

It's normal Brian so don't let it dishearten you and weaken your resolve. Expect it to happen and you won't be surprised again.

Keep going, stick to NOPE and you'll be fine. :)

It is indeed quite normal, those craves and habits are going to take a while to break, but you are breaking them, now in my book that's wonderful.

Just keep going, nearly two weeks is fantastic, well done

Thank you, there is no way I will give up my quit :)

Ah, you've added some detail to your sig :)

There you go then Brian, you can't expect a 20 a day, 25 year habit to be broken in 10 days can you.

Give it time and it will improve :)

10 days is great, i am only a little bit ahead and was surprised by a terrible crave day on day 13. But once you get through it you feel even stronger! X

That's what got me this morning was surprise,

Jess you own this quit

I had a crave out of the blue, I went to try and pair up all the lost socks my boys had accumulated. It's something i do very infrequently and 'bang' for a moment I was looking for my fags. The crave wasn't all consuming like the early ones, just a reminder that I'm possibly more vulnerable then I think.

Like you, I will not smoke, but it isn't easy and sometimes the lure of a cigarette bites you on the bum when you least expect it.

Well done Brian, during the early days a quit is a bit of a roller coaster ride with the ups and downs.

Like a roller coaster ride, as long as you accept that there will be downs you won't get caught out by them, and you know that there are more ups to come.

Like a roller coaster ride, eventually the ride evens out towards the end, the ups and downs stop, and everything ends up on an even keel.

Glad today has been better, makes you feel a bit more positive doesn't it. Go Brian!
