Hello everyone. My name is joey Byrd and I am 32 years old. I smoked for 20 years, and recently quit cold turkey. Today is my 32nd day smoke free, and I must say, I haven't felt so healthy in years. What a great feeling it is to know that every day that goes by is another day which my body is getting healthier. When I first took the plunge, I was scurrying to find things to keep my mind focused and away from the urge to smoke. Well, everyone here knows just how difficult that is to do. Somehow or another, while searching for sympathetic souls around the web, I ended up here on this site. After reading testimonials and seeing how this addiction is an ongoing process, I've grown to appreciate the power of interaction. You all have helped me every day since I quit. That's why I decided to join in on the conversation. So this is my first thread, and once again, thank you. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you.

p.s.

Just out of curiosity, am I the only Yank here?

Yes I was born and raised in Delaware. i have lived in every county,(only three lol), and have lived here in Lewes for the last 20 years. On the atlantic coast. Pleased to meet you, and look forward to hearing plenty from me in the future. I enjoy meeting new people. Especially under circumstances such as ours. :)

Welcome Joey and good luck with the quit.

American destinations I have been meaning to go for a while, Vegas, Nashville downtown County & Western bars, maybe Wyoming and New York.

I'm 4 hours from NYC and two hours from Philly. Have never been to Nashville but would love to do so. I took the ferry across the Delaware bay last summer and went to Atlantic City NJ. but from what i know, it is a far cry from Vegas. lol. New York City is amazing tho. You feel like your in a movie. You recognize everything around you because all of the landmarks are so famous. It's awesome. i would like to visit England and see the sights. especially the countryside. My family name originates in Cheshire, so maybe a visit there as well.

I live in Cheshire just but I'm originally from Liverpool which is Merseyside, I'm still that close to the boarder I still have a Merseyside dialing code. English countryside smells of cow & horsey honk but that's normal, you can get some really nice places if you are looking for that quiet type of life.

Welcome to the forum Joey and many congratulations on a month smoke free.

Yes hurricane Sandy was pretty nasty.

Hi joey and well done on your first month smoke free as well. I hope to catch you up soon!

What is Cheshire like?

What is Cheshire like?

Never been asked that before, depends what you are after really, if you are looking for history and want to see a historical town then I'd say your best bet would be Chester, the red blob is where I live now and there's certainly nothing historical about there it's just a town full of shops, pubs and general town stuff parks and train station etc, going where the red blob were I live is you'd be better going into Liverpool.

The rest of Cheshire can be quite a few country rd's and nice places if you travel about a bit and if you look around you can get some big houses, hard for me to say really as i live in the more commoner parts of Cheshire near Merseyside. Fancy nice place Google will probably give you a better look although I don't mind helping if I know.

A belated but very hearty WELCOME from me too. Aren't you doing well? I've said it a million times before but I have SO much admiration for anyone who can quit CT. I know I couldn't have done it.

One of the things I love about the forum is that there are members from all around the world. It's the ultimate in global villages and isn't it grand to know we all have the same goal and are sharing the journey! :)
