Made it to day 4, phew. Seriously though, not being able to sleep properly is driving me mad and is definitely not helping with my mood! Is this common? Seem to drop off then wake up- this happens a few times before I finally fall asleep. Oh and iphone has not recovered from its dip in the loo, grr
Knackered but still here!: Made it to day... - No Smoking Day
Knackered but still here!
I'm afraid sleep patterns being disrupted is pretty normal but it does pass. I only suffered for a short time so just rode it out but there'll be other people who can offer you better advice I'm sure.
One thing though is caffeine. Apparently nicotine surpresses the effects of caffeine so smokers can drink lots of coffee, tea and coke without it interfering with their sleep. So when the nicotine stops caffeine has more effect which might be part of the reason you're struggling to sleep.
I was lucky in that I switched to decaffeinated tea and cofee when I quit without realising it would help.
Well done on day 4 BTW
Well done indeed Fiona- Day Four is mighty! Won't be long now before you have a full week under your belt.
Disturbed sleep seems unfortunately to be one of the commonest quitting side-effects and most of us have been there. It's not hurrah, but as Sue says, it does pass eventually. I resorted to the Boots equivalent of Nytol- Sleepeze- (which is cheaper :)) to get me through the worst of it and after a while everything just settled down again naturally (and I am sure it will be the same for you).
On the positive side, all the nicotine will be out of your system now so whilst it takes your body (and brain) a while to readjust, you'll really start to notice all the lovely things about quitting. You're doing fantastically well!
Still here! Still not sleeping properly, hey ho, but feeling ok. Thanks for all your messages x
Fiona, you're doing wonderfully well. I know the lack of sleep is pants but it will pass. Try to have a relaxing day full of things you really enjoy and finish off with a long, hot soak in the bath
Congratulations Fiona! You are doing so well. Hope the sleeping gets better soon for you.
Love the idea of a truck load of Haribo! Nom.
Start of day 6 already, where does the time go? Sleeping better (a bit), husband went back to work this morning and I had a brief- I could go out and get some cigs_ moment then it passed. Phew. Its not easy though, there are times I actually forget I've given up, weird.
Well done Fiona My sleep pattens were all over the place for a round a week and half, I'd wake up thinking it was time to get up and I'd only been in bed 45 mins  then as I'd be awake I'd then be knackered and couldn't sleep, it was one of my worse symptoms but there was a lot worse out there, as for strange dreams...lets not go there lol
Good luck and keep up the good work.
