Day 5 - Checking in...

Wow, so I've reached Day 5.

Got close sometimes yesterday, but I've survived.

Just done a pasta, king prawns lunch with a pint of lager.

TRIGGER.

I think alcohol will continue to be a trigger for me, and although I'm not a regular, don't think it's possible to stay away from them altogether. Have to practice making a choice, whenever there's a trigger, or more specifically, alcohol-related trigger.

Day is only half-done, potentially lots more temptations along the way, fingers-crossed, one minute, hour, half a day at a time.

Woah mate. Absolutely flipping fifth day fantastic! Only 48 hours and it will be ONE WEEK! Get you!

Triggers.....mmmmm. I'm no expert, but for me, if I already have awareness or experience of what would trigger me to smoke and abandon the miraculous achievement I've made so far, I think it's kinder to myself to avoid it. Obviously, not all of them can be - like one of mine which is getting into my car (doh!)...but others here will have heaps of advice.

Meantime you are doing brilliantly. Go through today remembering that each hour that passes is one step closer to where you want to be...

Yes- your lunch description is making me hungry despite it being only a little after 8am here. I could just eat some prawns :p

The alcohol trigger is a biggie for many of us. Some quitters have (very bravely in my opinion) faced it out head-on and been fine but personally I know I wouldn't have had the strength initially so I went on the wagon until I felt confident I was out the other side of the risk of caving in after a few drinks. Horses for courses I suppose....

You're not half doing well though! Fair play to you! :)

Well done edge! You are doin fab! Alcohol is a huge trigger for me! Infact I've usually got a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge by now, but I've avoided it completely! So hats off to you for digging deep and not giving in! :D
