Hi All. Just wanted to introduce myself.
I have smoked for 25/26 years and this is my umpteenth quit.
I started smoking at 11 and came from a family of smokers. It has always been an acceptable thing to do. I can't imagine being quite as calm as my parents were if I found out one of my children started smoking at the age of 11!
Things have shifted over time - I've probably hated smoking for a good - gosh it's years now! I've not been under any illusion for a long, long time about how I smoke because I'm an addict and no other reason. I haven't 'enjoyed' it. I haven't liked the taste. I've resented the spend and smell. It hasn't actually been a social thing with me for a while now; most of my friends and my husband don't smoke. I see my extended family once a week and although they all smoke, they are a walking, talking advert for giving up. One specifically has lung cancer. You can't even pull a chair out to sit down without your hands sticking to the smoke residue!
I've tried all sorts in the past. Cold Turkey, NRT - patches, inhalator, gum, tabs etc. Hypnotherapy, Easyway, various other self-help books, Zyban and Champix (Champix - extremely effective but, I went a bit bonkers).
I'm going to use my previous knowledge of all my quits to help me now and I'm quietly confident.
Planning on popping in from time to time so - hope to get to know you all a little bit.
