I've gone 20 whole days without smoking. I quit after reading Allen Carrs book...it seemed so easy, so so easy!
Then tonight I crumbled - its payday and sneaked a packet.
I smoked 2.5 cigs and felt sick! I've ruined all my good work...what now!

You have a choice really keep smoking and have to start at the beginning again at some point in the future, or smoke until you die or bin the pack, chalk it up and get right back on that wagon mate...
I think you should get on the wagon again while you still can.
Paul
The packets gone, but feel so sh*t for doing it.
I don't even know where it came from, I'm not been cocky but i've not even had any real cravings. Almost showed off (to myself) how well i was doing and thought I'd actually done it....
Back to ****** square 1 it seems!
I doubt you will be craving again as bad as you did on day 1. Do not let this slip away from you now... Do anything to protect your quit right now... Stop counting days and decide in a weeks time if you want to start counting from day 1 or whatever. Yeah you've made a mistake. So the hell what.. Man up and understand it is now totally up to you if you really screw this up or stop with a little screw up... I know if you really screw this up now you will regret it weeks from now and wish you had taken the road with the free ride on the wagon...
Paul
Cheers Popo!
Defo going to continue with the quit! Is it just best to almost try and forget this slip up even happened and just carry on regardless. Or acknowledge the slip up and start again.
I'm so SO annoyed with myself.
Don't even decide that now mate.. Either way has issues you will try and convince yourself it is ok to slip up again if you look at it as being ok to slip up... It is not ok. You are playing with fire.
I say forget you did it carry on and decide in 20 days time if you are on 20 or 40. Do not make that decision now because either choice gives the evil addiction a foothold...
Paul
Good call.....
Right - think its time to call it a night a wake up to a new day as a non smoker!
Ps don't beat yourself up either if this was easy nobody would be smoking. It is not easy and you are doing great... Just each day decide not to smoke and carry on.
How are you feeling this morning mate ? Still cuddling up with your quit ?
Hope you are feeling good.
Paul
Thankfully woke up still feeling like I have each other day on the quit and still felt very much like a quiter!
So back on track!
Least I now know the negatives of a relapse at least
Great. Keep at it, and take it easy.
Welcome to the forum too. It's a good place to be.
Paul.
As someone who relapsed recently Paul's advice is dead on. You have already decided to get back into it which is a massive step in itself. I personally decided to go back to day 1 but only you can make that decision - don't feel pressured either way over day 1 or day 21, you will know which is right for you (in your case, reading what you have posted, I would say stay at 21 but that's just me).
Keep at it and you will be free before you know it!
i would say 2.5 fags is a lapse rather than relapse, i would stay at day 21, psychologically your at day 21. If you had smoked for like a day and a half i would say day 1.
we all make mistakes my friend. I had a slip today but you know what it didnt make me feel better or worse, just the same so what was the point!? im staying on day 18 as one fag in the grand scheme of life is nothing! xx
Agree with the sentiments there Mark and Nikki however to me the risk is then the little voice that says : 'Well it is ok then, to have one, and how often is it ok ? One doesn't mean anything' So where is the line ?
I think we all know what addiction is like, but it is a fine line from the 1 to the pack a day. It is best to view even the one as bad as the pack a day, else why don't we all just have one.
I do agree with what you are saying and how you are dealing with your lapses however lets not minimize the importance of that 1 sneaky smoke and pretend it means nothing. It COULD mean everything.
Just my thoughts.
Paul
I totally agree with what your saying, as i have now gone back to the fags. It takes one to set that road back to smoking but i think one is a cross roads - relapse and staying clean from then. which is why you should never take one puff if you want to stay quit, im sure we all know how that feels when you do xx
