Week Two I Love Ya!!!

I've got that silly "tomorrow I love ya" song from Annie in my head. Kinda sums up how excited I am to be here in week two.

And still no cheating what so ever.

I'm really pleased with myself and really late for work - ekkk!

Thanks guys, your encouragement and motivation really helps!

I'm feeling peeved this afternoon. I think I'm annoyed with myself for not getting enough done this week, it's not often I get a week without my OH under my feet so I always get really ambitious about all the things I'm going to get done.

I've still got tonight and tomorrow but I just can't seem to motivate myself to do anything. I keep starting things then thinking, no I shouldn't be doing this now / this way / this should be done first . . . My creative mojo is nowhere in sight and my tea is about as unappealing as it gets.

I'm proper down in the dumps and now I've got a flippin' head ache.

I've come on here to have a bit of winge but mostly to remind myself that this week I've quit smoking, That is massive! That's far bigger, better and more important than entering 20 competitions, getting 5 new customers, cleaning my house, making a new curtain, making a new skirt, getting ahead of things at work, increasing my wages, catching up with filling my photo albums, stripping wallpaper off the stairs - blooming 'eck I was being a bit over ambitious! Oh forgot making my friend's wedding invitations too. And knitting a new jumper.

I've taken on too much for this week. I should be proud of myself, I've quit smoking!!! I'll feel better for a bit of exercise, just got to wait until the builders go so I can go walk the dog. I'll finish cleaning my bedroom in the meantime.

Humph, don't think I can talk myself out of this rut, going to have to walk it off.

Thanks for giving me a place to winge and for reminding me that as long as I don't light up again all this "wasted" time has been very, very well spent.

I do seem to have got my head around the fact that smoking will not improve my mood. The nicotine rush would make my headache worse, I'd feel immensely guilty and it would do absolutely nothing to make me feel any better.

Don't be too hard on yourself Bridie! You have quit smoking!! That's an amazing achievement for the week! So what if you didn't get much else done! You made the best decision of your life! This decision will mean that your expected lifespan will be longer so you will have plenty of time to do all the things that you didn't manage to do this week - plus lots of extra time!!!

Have a lovely weekend and congrats again on your achievement!!

Thanks for your encouragement Sarah.

It's daft that you can know something to be true but somehow it doesn't seem to be true unless someone else says it!

You're absolutely right of course.

I worked out that if I spend (spent!) 5 minutes having a fag, 2 mins to roll and 3 to smoke, times 15 fags a day that's 1 1/4 hours off each and every day of my life. More on a stressful day. That's almost 9 hours a week!!! An extra full work day every week, or an extra play day! Excluding the time I spend (spent!) breaking off what I'm doing to smoke, prating about because I've walked through the office to get outside, time spent going to the shop to buy said fags etc etc. In that respect even if I actually had wasted this entire week it would still be worth it.

Hum, chocoy bar time I think, feel good movie.

YAY that's the spirit Bridie!!

Don't beat yourself up 'cos you've done fab and you have coped with all kinds of hassle *without smoking* if you get through all that you must have one massively strong quit!!

And it was a huge timewaster - I would often go for a "quick" smoke at work and even my record was something like 2 mins to smoke the thing but there's all the faffing about getting to Leper's corner, fumbling through my bag for fags and lighter and the inevitable drink afterwards!!

Yeah, I always had to have a drink after a fag, I couldn't stand the taste in my mouth!?!? How crackers!!?!

Well it was manky!!

And smoking always dried my mouth out too, so I needed a good swig of water!!

Why didn't we just think about quitting instad? lol.

'cause we were addicted and in the control of the nico demon!

Insane the things we did to satisfy our addiction, endanger our lives for gawds sake!

I'm loving the attitude people have on this forum. Literally referring to nicotine as a demon, labeling the addiction as exactly that and most importantly using this attitude to retrain our brains that nicotine is NOT the solution to any problem.

I really think that this attitude change is the key to staying quit long term.

Yep, it was ridiculous - like taking the taste away, trying to take the smell away made it all OK

It is a demon in a way, it's odd and never-smokers won't get the way it feels but it takes over somehow!! Scary.:eek:
