Ooh heck Sophie you worried me there!!

It's always up to you, it's your quit, but 2 puffs you hated isn't the end of the world really!!

Use it as an experience that you *really do not* like smoking any more and don't do it again :)

Hey Sophie, hope you don't feel bad enough to bin your whole quit, 24 days was good going.

The question about going back to day one has caused so many rows on this forum over the months I've been on it; the bottom line is that it's your quit, it's up to you. No one can tell you what to do and you'll get opinions differing left and right.

My personal view, as you asked? You haven't been smokefree since the start of May as you've smoked, that is how I would view it, but there's a reason I say that. When I first quit I went two days from the 22nd June then had three or four drags on a fag, but kept my quit date the same, clinging onto those 48 hours. After a few months I changed my quit date to the 24th and felt better about that, as that was truly how long it had been since I'd smoked in any way. By then of course two days didn't matter.

So the good news is that as the weeks and months go by, the little bit at the start just fades into the sea of time since you smoked so it ceases to matter anyway.

No one on here should criticise you, do what you feel is right, but Gemma's right, above all, don't use the fact that you smoked yesterday become a reason to smoke again today, and don't do it again ;)

Hey Sophie,

I have been going back and forth with the same question since my 'slip' on the 12th May. So today would have been either day 27 or day 15.....I decided it was day 15, because I wanted to truly say 15 days nicotine free not '27 days with one slip'. But this is my quit and I think that you need to decide how you feel in relation to your quit.

Its great that you feel repulsed by the cig, I felt the same. I suppose it shows some form of letting go. Hoorah!

It's up to you, it's your quit.

Ultimately though, what day you're on doesn't really matter, what matters is that you're not smoking today.

A lot of people do exactly what you did. Some (like me) smoke a few & completely blow it, some are shocked at how vile it tastes & it ultimately strengthens their quit. Make sure you stay in the 2nd category!

Hey Sophie. I would say that you should continue as you were with your quit BUT you should really take this weekend as a lesson to be learnt. What caused the smoking? What is the best way to avoid it happening again?

Don't be too hard on yourself, but jump back onto the wagon with renewed vigor! Lol. :D xxx
