Yep.. Im bored of being a non smoker.. Crazy huh?

Im still not having cravings - actually I think I have had 2 cravings in 7 days - not even cravings just thought in my head - Ill have a ciggi - and then realise I no longer smoke.. nothing more!

Still not grumpy or short tempered.. still not eating more..

But I feel bored now.. Bored of being a non smoker.

AM I A FRUIT LOOP?

How can one possibly be bored of NOT being something... I am a non smoker and im bored of that?

Is this where my mind starts playing those tricks on me that Ive heard about?

I absolutely hate admitting this.. but my mind is kind of telling me something along the lines of "You did it, you gave up, it was easy, it was no big deal, you have proved you can do it, now you start smoking again" - And I dont think I actually want to smoke again.. Im doing fine without them.. but its like my mind misses the hobby and wants me to congratulate myself by taking that 'hobby' back up?!?

Guys, do I need to commit myself to a psychiatric ward?

M xx

Hi Mrs P,

Firstly well done on getting this far with no many cravings - a brilliant achievement.

I do agree with you and think that this is your mind playing tricks on you to get you to start again. The novelty has probably worn off and now you're left thinking...'what next?' and your brain is responding with ....'a cigarette!!' But do not give in!

A lot of quitters would be very envious that you have sailed through, so enjoy it and keep going :)

Keep going MrsP

When you think about it, there cant be anything more boring than smoking. Ive got a couple of hobbies that I love but I know I would soon be bored stiff of them if I did them 20 times a day, every day for 25 years!!

Dont listen to the voices in your head. Its all a trick!!

It really is your brain playing tricks on you.

You may have found the physical craving feeling minimal (you lucky thing) but your brain is still in the process of readjusting, and it is sending out prompts to you to smoke. Your subconscious is translating that into 'this is easy, I'm bored of not smoking, might as well just have one' because that's the most effective way to get you to cave in and smoke, thereby silencing the brain with its continual prompting.

Don't give in to that inner voice. Remember the positives - you really don't want to smoke, it does nothing good and everything bad for you. If you caved and started another quit later, it might not come nearly so easy to you - every quit is different, the next one could be painful as hell, and you don't want to risk that!

You did fill up a lot of gaps in your day with smoking. Time to find some distraction techniques, I reckon!

You're doing great. Enjoy the fact that you're finding it relatively easy, and whatever you do, keep going.

How lucky you are not to have cravings, but don't listen to that voice in your head. You do not want a hobby like smoking, just push that thought away, stamp on it, just don't give in.
