Well done Alan! That's great news :) You sound like you're well on top of this quit and it's nice to know that you're not finfing it too difficult. The main thing is to stay focused and positive, and you definately sound like both to me! x

hello

if you dont mind me asking - how come you have stopped taking the champix? My cessation advisor says if you dont take if for the full 8-10 weeks full dose, it doesn't work ie doesnt permanently block the receptors in the brain

But I see a lot of people on this forum seem to finish it early

Am asking as I have had what feels like most of the listed side effects (only stroke and death left ;)) but have decided to persevere as really want to stop smoking this time

I will hit the one month mark tomorrow but have another 6-7weeks of champix left to go

Anway, congratulation on getting as far as you have with whatever method - its obvious your head is in the right place and that is the most important thing in the end

Thanks for the replies/advice

I have another meeting with smoking lady, as i normally call her, next week so will hold out and discuss it with her then

1 month today though so will focus on that positive rather than the physical negatives

Hi,thanks evrey body for the support,I took the full dosage of champix, for 2 weeks ,I felt that they were killing my taste buds,so cut down to half dosage for 2 weeks ,then decided that I would stop taking it all together and that's been nearly 2 weeks,I honestly think that it's all in the head,if you feel confident it helps,I still get the odd craving, but I've got friends that packed up years ago that still get them,I think champix are designed to help break the habit ,like anything really,if you really want to do something you need willpower as well as any other devise, I smoked 30 a day for over 40 years, and did not even realise I was smoking half the time,it's just habit ,a dirty one at that, people on here that have been following my story, are aware that I have bone cancer,I've had radiopherpy ,there is no cure for what I have but it is treatable ,they say I should live for between 1-10 years,so you have to look on the bright side ,I decided to stop smoking ,hoping it may help me live longer,so that's my story so far,and can't wait till I get to the penthouse ,onwards and upwards,:)
