Hi....D11 is about to start...today was not that good as yesterday but I went through it somehow....had a fight with my wife who does not know about my quit stuff...she does not mind if I smoke or not....this is third time in 18 years that I reached D11 ...previously I smoked at day 15 so this time I want to cross D15 somehow....

Second, I quit this time cuz one of my friend got CA of Kideny and had to get his kidney removed, he was smoker too but he had quit a year ago but he got diagnosed now...after that thoughts are coming to my mind that if I quit smoking later than what I should have ....Will I be Ok ....he was ex smoker but he got the cancer too...blah blah...these kind of thoughts make one weak some time but up till know I'm Ok.....Thanks to every one

Some days are bad, some days are worse, but they'll pass. I apologise if I'm overstepping here, but telling your wife what your going through would be a good thing. Whether she cares about you smoking or not isn't the point, she'll care about you and want to support you, through, what is a really difficult time.

I didn't quite understand what you meant with the cancer stuff? Stopping smoking isn't a magic bullet, everyone could still potentially get it. What you're doing is greatly reducing your chances. If you couple that with a healthy lifestyle - keeping a good weight, not eating too much meat, not drinking to excess, exercising, good mental health and lots of sex - you'll be as low risk as you can be. As well as this, stopping smoking has a lot of other benefits other than reducing cancer risk - you can breath better, you don't stink, you have better teeth, your heart disease risk goes down as does a whole lot of circulatory and pulmonary conditions, you can get a stronger erection, your mood improves and you have substantially more money to enjoy life with.

Sometimes things are tough, but it will get better so stick with it bud :)

Day 11 is great going! I'm on day 10. I know how hard it is when you have no-one at home giving you encouragement. I have told my husband (non smoker) but he's hundreds of miles away at the minute and, although we message each other almost daily, he has only asked me once how I'm getting on. Of course he said well done, 8 days is great etc etc but still feels like I'm on my own. Kids are old enough to understand I haven't been smoking and it's better for my health but not old enough to understand it's an addiction and how hard it is. I did try to explain it to them and then they left me a message pinned to the kitchen noticeboard. Hopefully it'll be of some help to you too (if I've managed to attach it properly!!!)

That's adorable Steffie. Well done on reaching Day 10! A great achievement :)

I have non-smoker friends who don't really ask about how I'm doing. They're happy I quit and it's not like they don't care, but they just can't understand the addiction and so don't really have any sympathy. And why should they? We were pumping poisons into our bodies, spending a fortune, and gracing them with our stinky presence for god knows how long. While it feels really good for someone to ask the question "so, how long is it now since your last smoke?"(in fact, I tend to bubble over with the excitement of answering!), I can understand why my non-smoker friends tend to leave me to it. Unfortunately it sometimes makes this seem like a very lonely journey, but it brings a level of confidence in your own achievement that you might not have had before!

The main thing is that you are proud of you. And if people don't ask, tell them anyway! :D
