Hi all, am struggling like you wouldn't believe and have no idea why. All I can think about is smoking and it is really annoying me now, as I have no intention of doing it, please help me to understand why, after nearly 4 months it has come back to bite me on the bum?

Hi
I'm struggling like hell at 3 and a half months and think i've now blown it !
Had 10 cigs last thurs, then 10 on sunday and now just had one again this morning. Over the last 3 and half months , most of the time its been easy , some of the time ok and some of the time really hard but until last thursday i had absolutely no intention of ever having another cig. I don't know what happened other than doubt crept in due to weight gain. I know when i smoke it won't be just one. I know the last couple of times i've managed to keep it to one day and get straight back in there again. Not sure i can this time.
I get to a point where i just don't care about my quit any more , smoke for a day and then i DO care about my quit again. My brain is fuddled i think!
Sorry about negative postings but this forum can't just be about how easy it is can it ?
Hi Hellers
A lot of quitters find it difficult around the terrible 3's (3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months).
Rest assured that what you are experiencing is not unusual and it will pass just as quickly as it arrived.
You are doing great, so please do not start to doubt yourself now.

I'm sorry you're struggling so badly Lucy - don't ever apologise for struggling, that's what we're all here for!!
Would maybe an e-cig for when you have bad days be better?
At least it's not going to kill you like real cigarettes will!!
I felt absolutely terrible around 3 months-ish, got myself to the state where it wasn't "if" I caved in and started smoking again but when and how I was going to admit it on here. But I bought an electric one and it kept me smoke-free. Has to be worth a go for you!!

Aww it's hard isn't it?
It does happen - like I said to Lucy it happend to me as well but you can and will get through it
Just go back to distracting yourself and taking it one day at a time and it should pass
Lucy,
I'm with Gemma on this one, the e-cig is really helping me. Smoking was so much part of my personality after 35 years (I'd never been an adult non-smoker!) that I'm resisting becoming a different person. E-cigs satisfy the bad girl rebel in me and I'm seeing almost all of the usual health and beauty benefits from quitting real cigs. I think it's the only way for me but I understand that it's not for everyone and can be seen as a bit of a half-way house.
Hi Lucy,
I am heading towards two months now and like you seem to have renewed cravings of a different sort. Basically just want to smoke and yes I am gaining weight too. However, think this is the hard bit and come so far and want to see it through now. Don't give up - stopping is a major thing to do, may not always happen in the first(or second or third) quit attempt but can be done as people on this forum have shown. Need to get your head in the right place again and have another go - I'm still taking a day at a time and weight situation will be resolved in time too but one thing at a time - lifestyle change and long term investment. Good luck.
thanks for the replies. i have an e cig somewhere. haven't used it since i got it a couple of years ago . will ratch it out and try again.

So sorry to hear that Lucy, been there myself after around ten months and it really is the most miserable feeling to know that you've blown it. All I can say is I hope it doesn't take you years to get back 'on the wagon' (took me just over four ).

It really does help
If yours is no good then VIP and Skycig ones are the top sellers I think and not too expensive either!! Cheaper than fags and healthier too, I really do understand how you feel with it!!
Good luck xxx
hmm i have been feeling very smoky last few days too. am in month 3 now eeek.
gunna go mow the living wossnames out of the lawn hopefully will help.
hope the rest of you can power through, wasnt expecting this blip tbh, but i guess that is payback for me thinking it was going too well a couple of weeks into this process
Hey Teffers, feel free to come do mine when you have finished please
It does seem to be the terrible 3's, the 3 week i found bad -ish, sounds like the three month is tough adn that lasts longer. Stay positive and strong everyone, remember that to give in now means that you will have to go through the other tough times all over again xx
