Hi ive quit smoking now for 2 weeks, the doctor gave me patches, and spray. Ive stuck to it and havent had a cigarette in over 2 weeks nearly 3 but when i went back to the doctor i got a reading of 9 which she said was to high for someone who has quit smoking. it should have been below 5, she said i must have done something within the hour before i went which was 11am - 12 lunchtime, the only thing i did was go downstairs talk to my parents and then my parant took me to the meeting, no one smokes in my house hold. And the only thing i did was have a puff of an electronic cigarette (The one that all the large stores are selling at the moment) As i had used it as a last option if i felt really stressed, so the only thing i did in the hour before was that. I asked her if that could have effected it and she said no it shouldnt. So am now sat wondering what could have caused it, she did say that maybe the gas boiler at home was leaking carbon minoxide but my father assures me that the room the boiler is in is a sealed room and the boiler has a system that if it leaks the carbon is pushed out a vent to the outside, so im stumped. My origonal reading was 19 so its gone down by ten but cant think of any reason why it would be high. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar thing? Could it really be the electronic cigarette? Thats what my family are trying to suggest it could be. But i couldnt find anything about it on the net?

It won't be the e-cig because there's no burning involved, so no CO (or that's what it says on the packet) but it might be either a dodgy boiler or heavy traffic maybe?
As Jay Jay says dont worry about it. What is important is that you dont smoke! The levels will come down, but maybe it will just take a little longer for you that's all. I know that must have been frustrating for you as you want people to say very positive things at first and we all need encouragement so in that way I can understand your dissapointment.
I never had mine read so I have no idea if mine went down straight away or not and now I dont care either!
the thing i would suggest is that you get a carbon monoxide alarm/tester and put in near your boiler- they may cost £20ish but it is better than dying through CO poisoning- I am not trying to scare monger but we had a problem last summer and it was only that it wasnt winter so the heating was not on that we are all still alive.
if you have not been smoking and your levels are high after 2 weeks, it is worth buying an alarm to be safe and if it shows up clear, they last for 6 years before you have to replace them.
Yes i did wonder if maybe some people it just took longer for carbon minoxide to leave there body's, My mum is going to get an alarm tomorrow and put it in with the boiler just to make sure although dad said the bolier is in a sealed enviroment with an extraction unit meaning even if it was a heavy leakage it a, would not escape the sealed area that it is stored in and b, even if it could excape would then be extracted via the system installed to extract any leakages. So thanks for the replys and i will keep you all updated. I do feel much better for not smoking though, its made jogging 10 times easier. And generally much healthier. But it was annoying because the nurse said she shouldnt really prescribe me any more patches or spray as i didnt get the required low reading. So it made me feel like she thought i was lying lol

I`m confused over your readings my first visit was 3.5 and nurse said this was off the chart and this week my reading was 0.9 the high end of bar but classed as non smoker
