Hi all . HELP!!! I'm now on day 9 and yesterday and today have been hell. All the cravings and thoughts that I thought had gone have returned 10 fold. I know that they are just fleeting moments but I'm finding them sooo hard to ignore and let go. Just holding on by the skin of my teeth . I will NOT let this beat me. Love to all. Jonno

if it is sunny, why not clean the car, just think how nice and clean it will smell! or clear out some cupboard, do some gardening, clean the windows, ( I wish my OH smoked- he would then have to go through this stage too...think of all the jobs I could get him to do:rolleyes:) clean your teeth, eat an apple, but try to peel it first in one long strip:D go for a walk, go shopping, post some more on here or read more of other peoples posts, you will realise, we have all gone through or are going through the same as you and it REALLY is worth hanging on in and telling the nasty little nicodemon to bu88er off!

Keep strong, you will get there x

Thankyou all for your support

Hi all. Thanks a million for your support today. It's now 2-15 pm and I haven't had a fag. Like everyone says the craving and urge to smoke is only temporary. I hung on to that thought and the urge has gone thank god I didn't give in. I also got myself off my ass and did some gardening and laundry which helped. Thanks once again for getting me through it. Love Jonno

Day 8 and 9 were very tough for me as well, the worse I felt since giving up, I really thought I was not gonna make it. But with the help of people on this forum, reminding me of why I am doing this, I managed to get through it. Also I had some sweets, an lots of water, and eventually the craving went away.:)

Day 10 I did it!!!

Hi all got through yesterday with gritted teeth and love and support from you guys. Today was marvellous , craving at times but my wife and I went out in our new. Motor and enjoyed ourselves. Just to fill you in on our situation. My beloved wife has severe advanced multiple sclerosis. She is confined to a wheelchair and is paralysed from the waist down . She can do little for her self and I have been her sole carer for 24 yrs. despite this we are deeply in love and count ourselves blessed . I say this because my prime motivation for quitting is that I must stay healthy otherwise I won't be able to look after her, so that is what's spurring me on. For her sake I must NOT give in. Our new motor is adapted for a wheelchair and gives us such joy. We are both involved with our local hospice. She as a advisory committee member and me as a volunteer in the day centre. This gives us such indescribable joy and next month we are both starting training as bereavement counsellers. Just thought it would be nice to share our lives with you. Thankyou for your sport. Day 11 tomorrow bring it on. Love Jonno

What a beautiful inspirational story Jonno. You and your wife are so fortunate to have that love between you!

Well done to you, and for both of your sakes you must not give in and somehow I don't think that you will.xxx

What a fantastic reason to quit Jonno. Im a high dependency carer for people with ms, mn and cancer patients. The support between some of my clients and their partners astounds me and it seems you and your wife are the same.

You seem to be taking a positive approach to living with ms if you can apply that to the smokes you'll be absolutely fine!

Keep on smiling!
