4 weeks today and 6 kids to keep entertained!

What a day! I got to 4 weeks quit at 10:30 this morning, yay!

Had an afternoon of picking my 6 year old son's friends up and going to the cinema and McDonalds, then back to wreck my house, finally dropping them off. I came home and nearly caved, desperate for a smoke. Or was I craving a drink?

As the champix has knocked me off the booze, I decided to sit down and chill with a glass of water. It actually stopped the cravings.

Overall, I'm pretty proud I got through the day. I'm pooped, so an early night for me :o

Thanks y'all! Today was a social occasion for my stepdaughter's 30th birthday in our local pub. 4 kids all playing out. A meal. A beer garden. 4 adults. 1 non-smoker (aka ME!!!!! :D)

I actually managed to throw a few vodkas down today, partly because I didn't take my champix earlier ;). I must admit that I found it tough, especially when they were lighting up all around me and we were all sat outside. The smell of freshly lit cigs was intoxicating. My party/socialising trigger was out in full force...

... feeling giddy and relaxed ... Oh no! Temptation trigger pipes up "Hey Ged, just when you weren't expecting me, mmwhoahhh hhaaah!"

How the hell I got through that, I don't know. Hectic weekend. Back to work tomorrow, but even that's tough at times. I work from home, and I face the back door, where I used to just nip out for a fag. I think working from home is often worse than working somewhere where you can't smoke when you want.

Ged

You star :D

believe us when we say....the time comes soon where you can be with smokers and it DOESN'T bother you at all!!! really!!!! Sounds impossible doesn't it. It is TRUE!

The smell of a freshly lit one still makes me think 'mmm' but that goes within seconds. The stink of stale fags is revolting.Celebrate Ged cos today, you were who those smokers really wanted to be.:D

Nice one Max! I'll take that one to bed with me tonight "you were who those smokers really wanted to be" ...

I had to laugh actually - I went outside to the beer garden, and one of the pub regulars (who I'm friends with on Facebook) was outside, smoking. She immediately said to me "Ah, caught you coming out for a fag, eh?". I said "No, I'm checking on how my boy's doing out here". All of a sudden, she went into a conversation (that I never started) about how she's GOING to try the oil-filled e-cigs, and her GP wouldn't give her champix, and she's tried NRT and that she wants to lose weight first, blah blah ..... (notice not a once did she praise me for how well I was doing; not that I wanted it, mind).

I told her that it's great news that she's seriously thinking of giving up, and I do know some people who've had success using such devices, so wished her luck for when she decides to give up. It's funny but I told myself the EXACT same thing for a reason why I shouldn't give up smoking - want to lose weight first ...

Actually, I'm on a diet as we speak. 4 weeks in on stopping smoking, and I haven't gained weight. I started a diet last week (I'll jump on the diet threads) and I feel that whilst I'm in strong will-power mode, this is an IDEAL time to try to lose weight. :)

LOL and thanks, Isolde! It was ****** freezing!!! What happened to the heatwave we were supposed to have??? Manchester's nearly always steeped in grey skies, lol!

Thanks for the praise - we're doing pretty well, eh? Tough tough weekend; I guess we all face our demons sometimes....

You're doing fantastic too! Small steps for us both - let's aim to celebrate when we move into Month 2! :p
