Who'd have thought (Day 3)

Well I had a terrible nights sleep last night. In fact I was awake more than asleep.

Still a bit angry but doesn't seem quite so bad today.

You know it occurred to me in one of my more wakeful moments that I might actually do this, for some reason that seemed a bit scary, I don't think I am really prepared for success.

Still things don't seem so bad after Shower and Breakfast.

Have important appointment at 12 today have to see how that goes - its the first one without Old Nic tagging along.

Hope everybody has a real good day.

Chris

Please don't feel you're alone in that fear, Chris. I've really had to remind myself over the last few weeks to take it easy and hit each day head on, rather than wondering how long I can last.

As soon as I think that way, I'm left terrified. It's amazing what the addiction does to your head.

If you find yourself feeling scared and thinking about the future, take some deep breaths and tell yourself that you can smoke whenever you like. I find that this little white lie tends to satisfy my brain and it means I can put thoughts of the future to the back of my mind again.

Also I've found that each time I've taken a bit of a tumble, the first day is the worst for anger and fear. Then it starts to ebb away. I was disappointed, at first, when I made it through a tough day and didn't feel amazing when I woke up the next morning. But you just need to give it some time and you begin to feel more yourself after a couple of days. :)

Well done so far, you're doing great!

Not too bad

Have been to my appointment, got home and first thing I thought was to roll a cig. But I said NO which was the easiest NO since I started this journey.

Thanks to everybody who helped me this morning with all the good advice.

Would just like to ask Max if he misses rolling cigarettes because I do. I miss that more than actually smoking them this pm. My coffee table looks empty which I haven't noticed before today.

Thanks

Thanks a lot Max you have come through for me yet again.

Craig how long do you think it is possible to go without proper sleep causing Brain to turn to mush whilst trying to appear normal!

Chris, I have only had probably 3 or 4 uninterupted nights sleep in the past year and 11 months ( due to pain from an accident not nicotien withdrawal) -so quite a while.:(

The sleeping problems associated with giving up smoking are much shorter in time ( according to what I have read on here) so I am sure that you will be able to get through it.;)

And what is this ' I dont think I am really ready for success' ???? You already are successful, 3 days!! and a meeting thrown in and you have not caved.

Pat yourself on the back and say well done!:D

You are more than welcome, getting through day 3- one of the infamously hardest days, dont know why, the say 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 months are 3 tricky parts...trying to remember but are you also going cold turkey ??

Really you have been successful so be possitive towards yourself.:)

Before we tell you to paint your nails or something equally stereo-typical, are you a male or female Chris?

Trea

I am trying to do this Cold Turkey although I do have some patches I was given by GPs quit smoking Nurse. Just not used them yet though.

Also I am Female and although I don't bite my nails am not really into painting them either.

Am doing a lot of cleaning, a friend who is Painter is going to pop round with some stuff to get Nicotine off my walls (When he can remember), that should keep me busy for a while although I am fed up with washing and cleaning.

hi Chris, yuk, walls and ceiings ( it was you with the wall mop?) they stain so much and you just dont realise it. i did part of mine last week and the one tip i would give is wear gloves or the smell of nicotine will be in your hands. dont worry about wanting one...it stinks horrible!

so no nail painting to keep your mind off things, long glass water, lie on the bed and listen to music,( only works if you didnt smoke upstairs) go walking, or if like me, clean clean and wash all your clothes:D

I shall look forward to reading you day four post.

Well Chris we've made it to day 4! Well done! I had major nicotine insomnia last night, the bed looked like id had a wrestling tournament in it this morning. Im knackered today but feeling positive cos its a sign that my body is fighting the addiction. BRING IT ON!!!!

As far as keeping hands occupied I've been constantly surfing the net or playing stupid games on my phone. Have had to go out early evening to somewhere nonsmoking as that is my biggest crave time. Hope you get on ok.

to both of you, i think if you have gone cold turkey then your bodies are/should be clear if nicotine so congratulations. sleeplessnights happen even without giving up; maybe we just notice them when we can blame them on something x

day 4 is the better part of 1 week :D:D

Good for you

Tic I am so pleased to hear from you today was a bit worried about you yesterday. Glad you made it through.

Accoding to NHS Smoke Free our bodies are free of Nicotine, but Psychological withdrawl is really kicking in.

Yes Trea it was me with the Mop it has been a God send on the walls, but the ceilings have started calling to me now.

Last night I dreamt I went and got 10 cigs (Don't even like taylor made) had to check side this morning just to make sure I didn't actually do it.

Yeah yesterday was tough so went out shopping and treated the kids. Had to get out the house but never fear im determined to see this through mainly because i can't face having to give up EVER again lol!

Psychological withdrawal? Sounds about right!
