This time I want it to be the final quit

I tried to quit in the new year and lasted 3 weeks, then slipped. Convinced myself I could just smoke at a weekend. Then the obvious happended and the weekends became the week. Before long I was sneaking out of the house and the habbit was back.

I find myself disgusted with myself today....yellow finger...sore throat.....smelly breath.....

I am better than this surely....I dont want to be lead down the cemetary path early by this stuff......

Time to get my head back into a positive frame of mind and quit for good.

Any help along the way would be appreciated.

It's a prescription drug so it depends if you pay for your prescriptions.

thanks guys......like the (loosely) scenarios......

been thinking through lunch and decided the following:-

a) as i am already on a quit, will not use Champix

b) will not use an ecig.....as I link that back to starting again

c) lozenges are rank and the chalkyness makes me feel sick

d) I have not tried any of that spray stuff you see on TV

so I have decided the following:-

1) going Cold Turkey as of today

2) I will hopefully control the early craves with distraction, positive thoughts, write on here, drink tea on a night instead of alchol and going to bed early (that worked before in my early days)

3) when the weekends / temptation comes......I dont' know yet....deal with today first.....

Here I go.....

you seem determined to make this work, as they say attitude is everything!

approx 3 days the nasty nicotine should be pretty much outta your system...go for it!

If you are going Cold Turkey, I thoroughly recommend Allen Carr's book - Easyway to stop smoking - It costs less than a pack of budget brand ciggies from Amazon. It's a good thing to pick up if you are having a crave, it's quite repetitive, but it gets you in the frame of mind to not only manage, but also avoid the craves. Good luck & best wishes.
