Ok so I'm not the brightest of smarties in the tube but I've finally figured out how to start my own post so here goes.
Day 1 has finally arrived and I've been awake now for 2 hours and so far so good. I'm all stocked up with bottles of water to flush away cravings and a box of breadsticks to nibble on or play jenga with (not sure which yet). Breakfast used to consist of a cup of coffee 2 fags and a coughing fit but today I have had a slice of toast, a banana and a glass of orange juice and so far its not been too bad. Just trying to change my routine a little to take my mind of things. I think I might do some spring cleaning today and clear out some clutter, anything really just to keep busy. Hope you all are having a good day and that you have all had a great Easter. Happy days

Welcome to the forum, you will find tons of help and encouragement on here!
Hope today goes well for you and its good that you plan to keep busy. It will all gradually get easier over the next few days and so on . Don't worry though if you find yourself thinking about smoking ... thats perfectly normal in the early days. One hour at a time , small steps etc.
Hello and Welcome. Great decision to (1) stop and (2) join this forum, where you'll get loads of good advice and support. Good luck and stay strong - it's soooo worth it to be free!
Its a good idea to keep busy in the early days. I had lots more energy from the start and got lots of jobs done which I didnt have the time to do when I smoked:rolleyes:
Welcome sdb, great decision and one which you will not regret, I can promise you that. The early days are the toughest but there are many forum members who are living proof that it is doable. Best wishes to you and read read read, this forum has loads of tips and advice for you
Nice one Sdb i wish you luck with the quit, yep change your routine, keep busy, think of other things, earphones and an mp3 player helped alot, go for walks/exercise maybe if your up for that, keep up the good work
Please feel free to join us any time for a rant or for some advice. You'll always find someone on here who has had the same/similar experience as you.
Well done for making the decision to quit and remember to enjoy each moment of freedom!
Staying positive really is the key. You may notice over the next few weeks that moping about a craving effects your day and attitude massively (I struggled for a week or so with this, before realising that I was only punishing myself by letting the bad thoughts hang around).
Also, try not to force yourself to stop thinking about smoking. Instead, remember to praise yourself for finally allowing your body to be rid of all those nasty chemicals and posions!!
Thank you everyone for all your great advice and support. I've had a few moments when the nico demon has raised his ugly head, but have managed to defeat him so far. Today I have been taking it hour by hour in small baby steps and this has somehow made it manageable, so for now I will keep on plodding on. Things can only get better from here.
Hope you have all had a good day today and that you all have remained strong.
It's really been only in the last week or two that I allowed myself to think further ahead than every hour or so. Well done!! I think this is a good way to begin! Xxx

Hi Sdb
It really is best to take it an hour at a time (or less if it helps) for the early days, don't worry about tomorrow or whatever it's *now* that matters!! And don't forget it's you exercising your choice to stay smoke free rather than stay a slave to sickorettes.
