:(

Good to see so many still trucking along with their quits.

I'm having a funny few weeks at the moment as I have a job related exam on the horizon in 2 and bit weeks time ( too scary to type the actual date as I've a lot to cram in) and I'm very fidgety and finding it difficult to mentally switch off.

Revising for the exam is pretty hard going as it needs to be squeezed in amongst all other family and work stuff. The only pressure to pass the exam is the pressure which I am putting on myself, its not going to get me a pay rise or promotion, but its good to have on my c.v should I need it at a later date. This will be the first exam I have prepared for where it I haven't survived on coffee and ciggies in the build up ! Chocolate doesn't really do it for me so I'm hoping that I find another coping mechanism over the next 2 weeks as to be honest I have in the last few days had a couple of unexpected craves. Wine maybe ? :D

This will be my first real 'stress' test in my quit and as I've known the exam date for a while ,it was one of the reasons why I felt I had to get on with my quit back in January to get the worst over and done with.

I may not post again before the exam as I cannot afford to get too distracted .. you know how it works , a quick peep in here and hours later you are still logged and posting :D

At least I know that you are all here though if I need an escape route

Looking out for you all

Donna

Hi Nonny

Good luck for the exam and hold onto that determination to not smoke!

I have found sweets (mainly lollipops because you hold them in your hand) to be of use when I'm bored or stressed out.

It's great that you have posted, because it should just get some of that worry off your shoulders. I have found typing/talking a good healer and distraction over the last few weeks. :o

Make sure you get back on here if you need to. And please let us know how you get on! :D

Thank you Kat & Sarah Lou.. it definitely does help being able to post on here as every moment on the forum is a stark reminder that there's no going back for me.Whilst not ancient I'm too old for any more day 1's , I see this as my final escape from smoking.

Kat, will definitely look at the Rescue Remedy I'm quite open to giving that stuff a whirl. I could do with feeling much calmer at the moment, hope its not hormonal :eek:

Mmmmmm, Sarah Lou, lollipops sound good, you've got me thinking of swizzle lollies, the two tone chalky ones preferably green and purple. Off to the shop later for me !

Nom! :D

There's a shop in the village I live in that still sells proper penny sweets, so I've been allowing myself a trip there a couple of times a week. I buy all sorts of bits (I mostly love jelly babies and fizzy cola bottles) and also pick up a couple of chuppa chupp lollies.

It seems like so long ago that I was allowed 50p on the odd trip home from school, to spend in the newsagents. I feel like a big kid when I walk in!

I'll need to watch it over the next few weeks, as I am snacking a lot more and eating more sweets than I everhave (I don't usually have much of a sweet tooth!), but I'd rather gain a few pounds and work it off gradually than allow myself a smoke :)

Hi Donna!!

Good luck with your exam and squeezing in all the revision - and it was definitely good to get the worst bit of your quit over before that started 'cos it's going ot be a bit stressy!!

Keep going though, you're doing brilliantly!!

*Is jealous*

I love all them, but there's nowhere here that sells them :(

Have found a shop online though!!

I used to get that every Friday if I'd been good all week - I felt so rich!!

It does seem ages ago though and I'm 4 years older than you

Good luck Donna I am sure you will pass :D

Lollipops, you cannot go wrong with them buy one of those big jars full, and just suck on the stick after you have eaten the rest.X

Thanks Max , won't know until June if I have passed as its a 3 hour written paper ! ( and to make it worse , the venue itself is a bad omen ... its at Bristol City Football club, Ashton Gate  I'm a Rovers fan:D)

Will give the lollies, rescue remedy and anything else I can think of to calm me down

now its definitely over and out from me until April

be good in the meantime :D

Sorry Gemma Lou & Sarah Lou..missed your replies due to my slow typing and posting.

Thanks again for your words of encouragement its very helpful and reassuring.

Keep meaning to tell you Gemma Lou that I've finally moved on from pink wafers on to Fox's Party Rings.. the ones with the hard icing and hole in the middle...surprisingly not too calorific... unless you do the whole packet :D

keep going my luvverlies

back to see you all in April
