Hi :)

Am really pleased about this too 'cos I'm sure my mind is changing!!

The tap in the kitchen broke - nothing too serious but it wouldn't turn on and I've managed to get it working again - but the good thing is that when I smoked my first thought would have been "I need a fag" straight away before I did anything else, now I was wondering where I left the screwdriver instead!!

Am definitely getting used to being a non-smoker now

Just putting this on here 'cos I'm proud of myself and, it might help new quitters (especially the ones who are struggling a bit) realise things *do* get better and pretty fast too!!

Nice one Gemma-lou, sounds like a tangible example of you losing dependency on the fags - great.

The same kind of process is happening for me. Some of the routine trigger points to have a fag: first thing in the morning, before/after meals, before doing something, after doing something.......before thinking about doing something. Hard though it is to believe (or imagine) when you first quit, I just don't think about having a fag when doing any of these. So yes, new quitters, keep going. Soon you will be making posts like these - much to your delight.

Excellent Gemma

It is the little things that confirm our quit isn't it? :)

I was like you....the very first thing was to light up.....many times the "thing" didn't get done as I was faaarrrr too busy smoking :D

Well done getting the tap working by the way...they can be pesky little blighters.....:)

Keep it going chuck

Thanks Biggrin!! :D

Am finding a lot of my triggers are fading too, which is fab!!

Had a couple of glasses of wine last night and didn't think about having a fag then either - good thing I quit 'cos I always had to smoke outdoors and it was freezing - and they always used to go together for me.

I'm glad you're finding your triggers are almost all gone, it's wonderful to be free isn't it?

Still get something after I've had my tea, not a crave 'cos it's not strong just sort of an impulse to have a fag, but it's easy to push that away. It's only really then and the random "I want a fag" thoughts I'm having now :D

Even the "voice" in my head has changed from "need" to "want" and that's getting quieter.

Now if anyone had told me that 6 weeks ago when I was still smoking I'd never have believed it but it's true and it's fab!!

Thanks Greg!!

Oh heck yes, would have been out the door and smoking straight away then still have to fix the flipping thing.

The only trouble I'm having is that all the "bad" food in the supermarket is so much more appealing now - have to be careful I don't fill my trolley up with that or I'll be huge

Can walk past the fag counter without missing it at all though!!

Another test another pass :D

Was looking through my bags again - have really got far too many and have bought more with my fag money :p - and found a stray fag in the bottom of one that I haven't used in a couple of months. I'm delighted *again* 'cos I wasn't at all tempted to smoke it - I just thought how disgusting my poor bag smelled even after all this time :( Those ashtray pouches I used to use were great for the environment but flipping heck they must have made me and my stuff absolutely reek!!

So Febreeze on the bag and the fag in the bin

What a really disgusting habit smoking is!!

Haha well done for binning the fag that shows a corner turned and yeah your bags must have definitely reeked! Particularly when they've been hanging around for a while - have a good whiff though, it'll keep you focused on the quit!!!

Thanks Karen :D

Am wondering what else I've got lying around 'cos I found a packet in another bag a few weeks ago

Didn't have any choice but to smell the bag, it was in the drawer under my bed and the smell knocked me back!! Makes me ashamed to have smelled like that for so long
