Oh Molly, that's a shame!!

Well done on being 100 days quit, that's fab and you must be really proud of yourself for that!!

Have a nice treat instead - hot chocolate, a relaxing bath anything except a stinky fag. It would taste foul after all that time anyway

You're strong you can do it!!

Molly, STOP. Don't go to the shop.

You've been here before and faced and overcome these feelings. You can do it again. It will pass, and you know from your own experience that it will pass.

What are your usual methods for supporting yourself through craves?

You are doing absolutely fantastically, day 100 is immense.

Keep posting

It may be because you have hit the fantastic milestone of 100 days and your brain is thinking it is the end of the race....... but you have made it to now and you just keep going....... don't let the little voices get to you.......

Molly, will you post something, and let us know what is happening?

I would normally read loads on here and reply to other people.

Helping someone else always helps.

To be fair though, this is by far the worst urge I've had since joining this forum and I'm lost! I can't believe how strong it is.

I WILL not cave though. I'm going to sit in a corner and rock rather than give in!

I'm never going to let this bast'rd addiction beat me, I'd rather get angry!

Shops still there though and doing my head in!

Thanks Biggrin, you brought me up short and it's what I needed

You're brill

Will you keep posting and keep us informed?

Listening to music, reading forum and waiting for 10pm to pass, shops shut then!

Tomorrow will be better, I'll be happy again then.

In Biggrin terms: today grumble grumble grumble grumble GRUMBLE!!!

Only 1 hour 50 mins to get through

In case any new quitters are worried by what Molly's experiencing, can I just say that it is perfectly normal!

Several longer term quitters have had experiences like this. Their quit had settled down, with few or any cravings and only the occasional thought about smoking. Those cravings were very mild and the thoughts very easy to dismiss. All in all everything was looking hunkydory for them. Then, out of the blue, a massive craving hit them. The intensity of it and its surprise appearance nearly knocked them off balance.

Fortunately they already had experience of dealing with craves and smoking thoughts, and knew how to deal with it. After a while the crave left, and that was it!

The key point is that it gets a lot easier and stays that way. If you get one of these "tsunami craves" later in your quit, it will only be brief and you will be able to deal with it. The vast majority of the time you will be virtually untroubled by craves and smoking thoughts.

So don't be put off, it will get a lot easier. Even if you get hit by a tsunami crave later in your quit, you will be able to ride it out. :)

Biggrin, I owe you a debt. Your posts have calmed me down.

Yes, that was by far and away the worst crave I have had since I joined this forum. As such it scared the hell out of me, I was not expecting that, I don't know where it came from, I've been so flipping happy all day!

I thought I would cave, I honestly did. Biggrin's post pulled me up short, made me think about how I dealt with things when I needed to more.

This crave is starting to pass, it's not gone yet but it's diminished to the extent that I can look it in the face and give it the finger!

You may well get something like this when you're least expecting it but it won't beat me, you or anyone!!

I am truly sorry if I have worried anyone

Thing is part of me isn't, as Biggrin says, it's good knowledge to have, you all know now that it may come and it WILL pass!

Thank you all for your support, it helped more than you'll ever know

Ah Molly

just logged in and here for you

In your first post, you mentioned the shop being 2 mins away. Just shows how easy and quickly a quit can be gone, and I'm sure day 101 sounds better to you than day 1 does Molly. I have complete faith in you, no matter how strong a crave might feel, you have always proven to be stronger and its no different here.

You got this nailed by now no doubt, and I am just gibbering on to no effect, warm hugs and encouragement and strength to you anyway.

You're never too late Don,

I just can't understand where this came from, it's going now though, so now I feel guilty for worrying everyone!

I'll be fine, a good nights sleep, a good walk in the morning. All will be well

Thanks Don x

oh Molly pet, the out of the blue ones are cruel. But you know from past experience that however uncomfortable that crave is, its nothing to the misery and shame you will feel if you give in to it. remember that everything we thought we got from cigarettes is an illusion except for a tiny frisson of pleasure as we first inhale, before the poison completely hits, then its tar in the lungs fear of cancer, actual cancer, the ew3dsad faces of our loved ones, an empty purse, and, worst of all, a massive sense of utter uselessness. Remember we are not giving anything up, we are reclaiming our pride and our future.Rooting for you xxx SANDRA

Oops SORRY, MISSED THE 3RD PAGE. Keep doing capitals too, wish that stopping smoking came with a free upgrade to technical competence on a keyboard! Glad you got through it and thanks for your kind words, but actually I have been thinking that the 2 month mark is often where I relapsed so i got 2 stop books out of the library, and a lot of that came from them, it suggested you draw a visual representation of your smoking life, in order to figure out precisely why you as an individual were vulnerable to the addiction, with the central image of yourself at a Y junction, where do you go if you have the cigarette, where do you go if you dont?. I am going to draw mine tomorrow, but I have been really thinking about it and it has helped a lot.xxx

Hey Mols, my quit buddy, just come back from being away and read your post, was really worried but that eased as I went down the page as it lioks like youve come out the other side, loads of good support and advice there. I think Dons idea that your mind thinks it is the end of the race is a valid one. I think many (me included) fall down between 3 and 6mobths because we think we've cracked the addiction and can have just one - no no no no we can't!!!

The video boo posted under the help to stop section has really brought it home for me and has had such am impact - I know I can ever ever smoke again.

Glad you've come through the worst missus, you're always here for support for everyone else I'm so glad you got all the support you needed when it got tough!!

Chin up missus!!!

Hiya Guys and Gals,

I'm at a bit of a loss for words to be honest. I am so very grateful for all your support last night, you all got me through. It was a bad time but reading what you all posted made me realise I could do it.

I am back to my usual chirpy self today, have been for a 7 mile walk and am totally back on track with my quit and stronger than ever! Nothing is going to stop me getting to that penthouse, and it's down to you lot. So you'd all better be there too!

Thanks again everyone, I am so very grateful

This forum rocks big time

Hello Molly

So glad to read you are back to your best.

We knew you could get through, just had to convince you. :)

Sometimes it takes others to see your strength when were blinded by the demon, and we all see your strength here. So it was no surprise to me to see the support you got, it's what your rightly deserve for being there for so many of us in times of need.

Onwards, upwards, sometimes sidewards but never ever backwards.
